USCIS Spousal Interview Dress Code.

Please can anyone tell me if is proper to wear native dress such as Nigeria dress well made to spouse change of status interview. Does it have to be English wear?

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

 

Now a US citizen!

i am not aware of the attire worn in Nigeria, except for 90 day fiance, but she should be fine as long as that is acceptable in that country for a formal interview for work or government. just my 2 cents

9/5/2018                     We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (this is getting boring!!!)

10/3/2018                  We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (this is insanity, 4th time while some got GC)

10/17/2018                After 136 days of wait in HELL, finally EAD in production

10/21/2018                Card was mailed to me, and yes it said so on a Sunday night, while Vj-ing

10/22/2018                Card was picked up by the USPS

10/24/2018                EAD in hand. F%^&& finally

12/28/2018                Interview has been scheduled. Waiting for notification with date by snail mail

I think it’s an AOS interview in the USA. The London embassy certainly doesn’t care what you wear. In the summer the J-1 applicants hoping to go to summer camp show up in micro shorts and cut-off tops. I had my IR-1 interview in December 2016. Woman next to me was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. A man after me was in his work coveralls all splattered with paint.

the timeline says IR-1/ CR-1, but my opinion is to go more business like to these kinda interview, US or not.

No clothes allowed inside embassy. Lol JK

Wear something that you actually put on when you have job interview, If you are concerned. Be professional and act professional.

OP seems to be sharing an account with others as there are references to acting as the nephew’s joint sponsor, wife having an interview,  some AOS from tourist visa, applying for a tourist visa, and more. I lost count of the visa types mentioned. 

 

Anyhow...I would always advise not to go to over-dressed for this. I wore a dress for my IR-1 interview in London but it wasn’t new. Just a dress I liked to wear to work. There were people there applying for B-2 (non U.K. citizens but living in the U.K.) who were dressed like they were going to a royal wedding. “Trying too hard” was all I could think of when I saw them.

September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
