Changing my last name to my husband last name

Good day everyone. I have a question. My passport will expire on May 10th 2019, I’m still using my last name because I didn’t renew my passport as yet. I also have a US visiting visa, reason why I didn’t renew my passport because if I change my last name to my husband last name my visitor visa and passport would have two different last name. My husband is filing for me my case was closed at nvc on the 16 of this month. Sorry if for the confusion. Thanks for the reply.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of interview.

Ok. Thank you. So I definitely need to renew it. Do you think it will cause a problem if I change my last name to my husband last name. I’m not sure if can travel with passport saying one last name and my visa saying another.

Visa will be issued in the name that matches the passport.

You should have your interview soon and your vistors visa will be cancelled if they issue your IR1/CR1 visa

Ok. I’m really praying I get a interview before the 6 of December.

Good chance of some day in December, but before the sixth would be totally random.  You should have completed the DS260 in the married name too but that can be dealt with at the interview.

I’m just hoping. I’m still using my old passport with my maiden name, and if I remember correctly when I was doing the DS260 it says use the name that is in your passport...

It says that, but your passport should have been renewed sooner too.  Then it would have matched.  You're noticing this issue far later than is optimum.  No worries.

I know. I was worried about my visiting visa that if I change my last name I would have problems traveling...

I’ve been doing some research in google when others are saying all you have to do is travel with your marriage certificate. I’m. Not sure how true that it.

Exactly correct.  Had you asked sooner, you would have known.  You can also travel with two passports, the current one and the old one with the visa in it.  Happens all the time.
