Will processing times ever improve?

I just checked the processing times to adjust status with an I-485 (https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/).

 

For example, for SF it's 15 to 28.5 months (!!). Does this mean it's impossible to get approved before 15 months have passed? All the way up to 2.5 years waiting time :(

That's a long time.. didn't it used to be 5-6 months just a few years ago?

 

Do you guys think the processing times will ever improve? Or just keep getting longer and longer?

That's a long time.. didn't it used to be 5-6 months just a few years ago?

They do improve and slow down over time which is just natural. When my wife was going through her AOS back in 2012-2013 it took over 10 months for her to get her GC after filing.

Same here - AOS took 15 months in 2014-2015. Although our I-129F took only 3 weeks from submission to approval in 2013, and that was with Gov. shout down.

It's an ebb and flow. Sometimes it's much faster, sometimes it's even slower.

 

The stated 15-28.5 months means they intend to adjudicate 50% of I-485 cases within 15 months and 90% within 28.5 months.

So there are decent chances of getting adjudicated in also 10 months or so, I guess.

Ten months seems early still, but is possible. More likely it'll be around the 15 month area in your office's case.

As long as more people are submitting applications and USCIS don’t higher additional staff processing times won’t improve.
