What should I bring to my interview?

I have an interview coming up. What documents or things do I need to bring there?

Bring ORIGINALS and copies of everything.  If I've forgotten anything that should be listed, feel free to add to this anyone.

 

 

-NVC appointment date letter

-Unexpired passport valid for six (6) months beyond your intended date of entry to the United States and a photocopy of the biographic page (where your name and photo are located).

-2 passport photos (2x2)

-Medical examination results in a sealed envelope from an approved physician

-Your original birth certificate, English translation, and a photocopy.

-Your original marriage certificate, English translation, and a photocopy

-If you were previously married or your petitioner was: All original final divorce or spouse’s death certificate(s), English translation, and a photocopy.

-If your name has changed: The original court name change document and a photocopy.

-The original police certificate from your country of current residence, any countries where you lived for more than 12 months, and any country where you have been arrested. If you previously submitted a police certificate to NVC, it is more than one (1) year old, and you still live in that country, you must obtain and bring a more recent police certificate to your visa interview as the one you previously submitted will have expired.

-Confirmation page from the Form DS-260, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application, you submitted online at the ceac site.

-The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s.

-Evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and visa applicant (for example, photographs and letters).

I basically had everything I had sent along with the i130, the i864, and then some more update documents for the time between submitting the i864 and the interview.  Salary statements, steps taken to reestablish domicile, etc.

 

Edit: And the originals of everything asked for in the interview appointment letter.

Hello. Thank you for the information. What do you mean by the originals of everything asked for in the interview appointment letter? Do you mean everything submitted through the NVC CEAC step?

Also, I have misplaced some tickets showing travel or visitation. However, I still have pictures of them and also confirmations. Will these work if I print them and bring them to the interview?

Should be fine.  I printed out some tickets i had, some confirmations, and they never asked to see any of them.

Is it worth the ink and paper to print out chat logs and my name on my husband's beneficiary list?

Lots of people print out some chat logs, others, not so much or none at all.   I didn't print out any because i didn't have any, my fiance at the time used voice chat only so we didn't have any to print.  It wasn't an issue.   They never asked to see any of the things i brought except the original documents we uploaded to USCIS and what they requested for us to bring on the welcome letter.   If you have things like, bills you share with both your names on them, bank accounts with both names on them, life insurance with you as the beneficiary is good as well,  i'd bring those if you have them.

Original documents from the USCIS... do you mean the original I-130? If so, that will pose a problem because my husband mistakenly sent in the original without making any copies. Do you think that he can request the originals from the USCIS? Do we even need that?

Medical examination the doctor put a CD inside the sealed envelope, and i believe cd’s are not allowed  inside the embassy, how ?

No, you do not need copies of the I-130
