Hello our NOA2 is sept 5th - called the NVC they state they have not received it yet.

I am assuming it will be sometime in the next two to three weeks and we will get our case #.

Can I go ahead and book medical ? Or should I wait till I get the case # even though it should be soon?

Looks like earliest medical appointments are late October.

Thanks

So I called the NVC today and was given a case number. on the state dept website- it shows at NVC. It also says I must to the 6 things before NVC can schedule an interview. Do you know what are they referring to?

Yes I do know. That's is for a CR1 visa and NOT for K1 so ignore. Follow your Embassy instructions.

Hello,

Where are you finding the availability for medical appointments? Are you calling the physician’s office?

No I am only basing it off of what others have shared here. Seems like most are getting scheduled for Oct. 19th or later.

Just called today and was told that they received my package at the NVC yesterday! No case number has been assigned yet, so I'll likely just call again on Monday.

Also just got an email from NVC about our case. I had updated our e-mail addresses (even though they didn't actually change) on this form as recommended here on VJ: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

So will the NVC or the Embassy in India send me instructions in mail? I guess the important step is to pay the fee for the interview. The lady stated that I must wait for instructions from NVC. You are saying follow embassy instructions.  Can you kindly clarify? Really appreciate the good work you have put into all this.

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

OK, so this is getting a bit confusing to me. The member is stating that once the case number is received I should fill up the DS160?  Will the DS 160 get me to the next step? Can you kindly clear this please?

i know this has probably been asked so many times, but want to make sure, Once i have my NVC case# i can book my medical even though my case is still at NVC

But i can only book my interview once my packet is at the embassy?

Sorry may be behind on the times, but why do you need to wait to book the interview? I was under the impression once you had the case number you could book both right away

All you United Kingdom People need to go over to the sub-forum for the UK and ask your questions. I have been laughing for the last day or so. It's like you all are in a dark room and your asking each other if you know where the door is. Go where the experts are so you don't make a mistake. These are what you need to complete your visa interview.

Completed Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. You (and any eligible children applying for K-2 visas) must: (1) complete Form DS-160 and (2) print the DS-160 confirmation page to bring to your interview.

  • A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).
  • Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor
  • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)
  • Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)
  • Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)
  • Two (2) 2x2 photographs. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements
  • Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)
  • Payment of fees, as explained below

Note: The consular officer may ask for additional information, such as photographs and other proof that the relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) is genuine. Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned.

These are only the basic items. Please check with your Embassy Instructions for further requirements. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts-k1-k3-visas.html
