Niaje...I wish I could say that. On a return trip from a Cruise in the Bahamas in Tampa, FL, the CPB agent was confused about the extension letter and whether I had filed a I-751. The letter from last year had a date stamp of issue rather than mentioning validity from the date of GC expiry. So off to Secondary we went. They were very nice people definitely, but odd in that they had no idea about these things.

She came back without the letter which she left on her desk which confused her even more. Thank goodness I remembered to ask her for the I-787 whereabouts

Sema! Yeah, there is always the odd, clueless one out -- poor thing, she was probably seeing the extension letter for the first time in her life. You did not offer some chai, no?

Your timeline isn't filled out. What country are you from? Take into consideration and see what is needed to enter Cuba.

You won't have any issues returning to the US, but you might have issues entering Cuba depending on what passport you hold.

We went to Mexico. The airline gate agent in Minneapolis had to check in my wife and when she presented the expired green card and the extension letter the gate agent said she had no idea what the extension letter was. Luckily one of her co-workers there did know about it. They have to enter in the green card expiration date into something they use. Instead of entering the expiration date that's listed on the green card she entered the new expiration date from the letter. Everything worked out fine but thankfully someone was working there that knew about it...

You didn't need a Mexican visa to enter Mexico? The expired GC + Extn letter sufficed?

There are a number of VJ posts that claim Mexico absolutely requires a visa for entry unless pax is carrying an unexpired/valid green card.

We flew into Cozumel. No problems at all there. No Visa, just the green card and expiration letter. Customs agent there had obviously experienced it before

Nope. Don't know what we would have done if they said we needed a visa. We went through customs just like normal
