I found this old forum post which might help you about that question! :)

Thanks for linking that!

I had seen that thread but there's a few people in there posting conflicting things LOL

I might just have my fiance say he "intends to" and then at the end write NA K1 etc etc (that seems the most logical answer) :)

You can't see what is or isn't correct as the form does not have that functionality. Here is a good primer for completing the DS=160. http://www.visajourney.com/content/ds-160-help-and-frequently-asked-questions-faqs Also, I have these two from two Embassy's. The DS-160 is the same for most Embassy's. When you are filling it out for your country only country specific questions may appear. So if the example doesn't show it, that goes for all links I share here with you, then don't panic as it isn't a requirement for your country.

Thank you.
I did not correctly ask my question

I want to see, see, check

I want to check all the questions and answers again

I think that will be best answer to write because he does have to provide you with money if you want to live.. in the sense of food and such.. I'm sure if you write about going for K1 visa it'll make sense to them.

@Greenbaum Thank you. Can you help to explain more about P3 & P4? I do not understand what they mean.

They are "old" names for the simple process of getting your visa with the Embassy. Each Embassy is different where some use the distinction and others don't use it at all. Basically, your Embassy has a "checklist" (that's the Packet 3 or P3) of required documents and /or procedures that you will complete to prepare for the interview. Some Embassy's will send it to you, others it never arrives and others it's on their website or at website that they will refer you to, which is it's own is very basic. Again, this step is Embassy specific and all do not use it, you return your P3 to the Embassy which signifies you are ready for the interview, then they send you instructions on how to pay your fee and book your appointment referred to as the Packet 4 (P4).

I have some information possibly on your Embassy but many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

In the new revised I-134 form dated 2018 - Question #38 now regards contributions.  You leave the yes/no boxes "unchecked" and your explanation is submitted in Part 7 on page 8 of the new form.  This question was intended for other visa's and has nothing in common with the K-1.

You will do this:

3.a. "Page 4"

3.b. "Part Number 3"

3.c. "Item Number 38"

3.d. "N/A (K1 Visa Process For Permanent Residence)"

There are experts over in the sub -forum for the UK located here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/ that could give you that answer. I doubt someone from Ghana or South Africa could answer that from this forum.

Revised since that question was changed two years ago. That form has changed since we did the first one. Yes, we had the inaugural of that form. That form was the consolidated of three forms to the one you use today.

You have the right form.

Hi everyone, my fiance's got some questions on filling out the ds160.  on the DS160 it asks if you've ever been sponsored for an immigration visa before. My understanding is because the i129f is a non immigrant petitioon, the correct answer to this is no. Correct?

And follow-up, where it asks for a us contact, my fiance will fill in me and choose "us petitioner"?

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Good luck and God's speed.

If you can prove that your employment is greater then the required amount for your family size then there isn't any concern and no need for a Co-sponsor. A co-sponsor is not always excepted at most Embassy's so make a strong case for yourself.

If you can get a part time job to add to your salary and that put's you over the top, I highly recommend it. You don't have to keep it forever, just till you get through AOS.

Thanks very much for all your help, Greenbaum. I heard that before too, but I was informed that the Colombian embassy accepts joint sponsors. And considering my past tax returns don't show that I have had much income (I was a student and lived in Colombia for a year...hence the lower income) I feel that it is much better to have a joint sponsor as back up.

I also found out that I actually earned less this past year at my part-time job (which I started last October). It was more like $24,000. It's still over the required amount, but much lower than I realized. Do you really think a second job would help much at this stage? I'm not really sure. This part of the process is definitely what concerns me most. I would hate to get so far only to be rejected on this basis.

Thanks so much.
