Hi All,

Wanted to get your thoughts.  When my wife and I did Adjustment of Status, we lived in one address. We have since then, moved twice - every time we submitted a Change of Address to USCIS ( we did keep the receipts / e-mails saying they had received our change of address - so we thought nothing was unusual.

So now we are getting ready to remove conditions - and we got the 120 day letter reminding us that we need to file the I-751 - but they sent it to the original address from Adjustment of Status! If our mail hadn't been forwarded from the old place, we technically would have NOT received that letter ( but we knew about Removal of Conditions anyway ) - so what gives? Why did USCIS send a letter that's two addresses old?

We did all of the Change of Addresses online. Should I bother updating anything? It's concerning that they used such an old address.

Thanks in advance.

I think there is a serious problem with the USCIS address change system.  I just moved, and I changed the address for my wife online.  I received the change confirmation email, but I'm not confident that I will receive correspondence here.......

Anyone have any insight here?

I have also had letters sent to an old address. I did another address change, but I'm not entirely confident it ever was actioned. Best we can do is keep the USPS mail redirect up-to-date and hope nothing's too delayed.

I have used the change of address with no problems but that was when my wife's AOS was still being processed.  Out of curiosity, did you submit a change of address while your AOS was still being processed or after?

Interesting - when we submitted a change of address online, we received both e-mail confirmation and a physical letter at the new address. I see that not everyone gets that. How bizarre. Maybe you can try calling them to see what address is in their system?

Did you also report your change your address?  I only ask because I just learned last week that, as her I-865 sponsor, I was also supposed to report a change of address when we moved (November 2017)...within 30 days. Unfortunately, that one can't be done online, so I mailed it yesterday. Whether/not you have shouldn't have any bearing on why your spouses aren't receiving mail at their updated address. I just want to make sure folks are aware (or reminded) of that requirement for sponsors.

When we moved both me and my husband (sponsor) changed our address. I did mine online, got a confirmation and thought everything was great until we received a pretty thick envelope from USCIS. In it was an envelope with our reminder email to do ROC and a form for address change. I filled the address change letter in with a note that I did in fact fill it out online when we moved but it must have not gone through, I wonder though if they went in and checked the address of my sponsor and just went by that address.

That shouldn't have happened, but who knows. I did my wife's change online after I entered the change of address with USPS in October (we'd already purchased our home two months prior, so I wasn't worried about the USPS change occurring before our move date). She received her notification of the approaching window for filing the ROC at the new address, as well as the NOA after we filed in June.

Unfortunately, I just saw another thread reporting a problem receiving mail after they'd changed their address online. So, I'd agree that it seems the system is messed up, at the moment.

I updated my address with USCIS on Dec 2017, but I received the 120-days notice to my previous address. I called USCIS to figure out why they hadn't updated my address and they said that they had. The officer saw on screen that they have my current address on file since December 2017.

However, I found out through VisaJourney that apparently the 120-days notice always gets sent to the same address where the conditional GC was sent, even if you have updated the address with USCIS <_<. So I guess it's just another cheeky little thing USCIS does to mess with our heads?

Also, supposedly USPS isn't allowed to forward USCIS mail, BUT I have received forwarded USCIS mail in the past (120-days notice, for example) so it seems that some mail pieces do slip through the cracks.

I don't know what other notices also are supposed to get to the old address, but I imagine that NOA1 and such will be sent to the address on the I-751 (hopefully).
