  1. Do you have to report the change of address regardless of how long you are going to stay in that place? I am a conditional GC holder, and I am planning to move out of my current place with my US spouse because the place we currently live in does not have many job opportunities. We are planning to move to another state, where there are so many more job opportunities, and where my close friend lives, and she said she could offer her place for both of us until we can get a job. She already spoke to her landlord and they were so kind that they allowed us to live there for some time, without being on the lease. Now my question is, at this point, I have no idea how long I will stay in her place. Should I still report the change of address, even if we won't be on the lease? A related question would be, in an expensive area such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York, I know some people who don't own a house, nor rent, but just live in a hotel room because that can be cheaper than owning or renting. In cases like that, do they just have to report the hotel address and room number? What length of stay is too short to have to report the change of address?
  2. So after 7 months I just knew I had to report address change of the sponser. The sponser is also the petitioner on I-130 (which we submitted change of address for.) Should we file I-865 or I-130 change of address was enough? How screwed are we?
  3. So does anyone did Online change of address after wedding but before AOS application? I enter US through K1 visa and then we moved out of my Fiance's parents house to an apartment after the wedding. The address indicated in K-1 (I-129F) petition is his parent's house. Do I need to change address online before AOS application?
  4. We are a few days away from sending our AOS packet after getting married after Thanksgiving (K-1 visa), and we've been back and forth on what we should be doing about our recent address change. A little after new years we moved into a friend's apartment so that we didn't have to live with my new in-laws while we wait until we can afford a place of our own (once I get EAD and find a job we will be looking to move). I know I have to file a change of address with the USCIS (within 10 days, eep!) and I'm going to do that before we send off our application as I believe its simpler doing it that way (only have to file it online). My question is, will this change of address cause us any issues? For example, I've read a lot about people needing joint leases as proof of living together when they go to the AOS interview. We plan by that point we will have our own place and be on that lease together, but will it be an issue that we weren't on the lease at this current address and are just staying as guests. While we will be listing our new address on the AOS application, we are also keeping my in-laws as our mailing address for the application, as well as other non-visa things (e.g medical insurance, payslips, etc). Will USCIS take any issue with this? I don't want to arouse any unnecessary suspicion. I'm thinking everything should be fine but, erring on the side of caution, I thought I'd post this for peoples' thoughts on this, am I still missing something? Any help or information anyone have to add would be great!
  5. Hello everyone, I am in need of advice. I may need to change my address soon due to unforeseeable circumstances. My fiance's K-1 Visa application is currently waiting to be adjudicated at the California office. If I change my address will it negatively affect the processing time or the application itself? How would I go about changing it? I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the application. What are the experiences that some of you have had with changing addresses? Thank you so much for any advice.
  6. Hello everyone, I tried to make some research on this specific matter, but I found different scenarios than mine. My husband and I are moving to California for one year only, or temporary at least. I know I MUST change the address on file with USCIS, also because I have RoC in progress, but do I have to change it also with the Secretary of State? Can I leave my previous address (as we'll be back at it anyway, my mother-in-law lives here) for USPS and DMV, and changing it ONLY with USCIS? Let's say the answer is yes. On March I will be applying for Naturalization from California, and I know I need to be living there for 3 months before being able to apply. Will they ask for like a proof of residency in California? What proof may that be? Work? Because if we keep our driver license the same, without having the California one, how will I prove I have been living in California for 3 months? Sorry for all the questions, and possibly confusion. I appreciate your help. Giulia
  7. Does anyone experienced a delay on their n400 filling when they moved apartments same state? Thank you!
  8. Hello!! I'm in line to be scheduled for an interview but it happens we're moving to new york in 2 weeks. How do I change the address or reschedule the interview for the new state I'm gonna be living in? (if it's already scheduled by when I move). I know there's the online tool, but then I've been reading people mentioning AR-11's and a change of address for the I-864 too? I don't have a confirmation number for the I-864 as it's supplemental with I-485.. I'm lost. Any help will be appreciated! Thank you
  9. Hi All, Wanted to get your thoughts. When my wife and I did Adjustment of Status, we lived in one address. We have since then, moved twice - every time we submitted a Change of Address to USCIS ( we did keep the receipts / e-mails saying they had received our change of address - so we thought nothing was unusual. So now we are getting ready to remove conditions - and we got the 120 day letter reminding us that we need to file the I-751 - but they sent it to the original address from Adjustment of Status! If our mail hadn't been forwarded from the old place, we technically would have NOT received that letter ( but we knew about Removal of Conditions anyway ) - so what gives? Why did USCIS send a letter that's two addresses old? We did all of the Change of Addresses online. Should I bother updating anything? It's concerning that they used such an old address. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi everyone, I'm a bit stuck with a question I have and was wondering if any of you could help me out. My fiancé and I are currently going through the K-1 process. We sent in our I-129F petition while we were both studying and living together abroad in Denmark. Anticipating that after we graduated we would move back to the Netherlands, I put in my fiancé's physical address as our address in Denmark and his mailing address as his home address in the Netherlands. Similarly, I put my physical address as our address in Denmark and my mailing address as my address in the US. We received our NOA1 back in April and have now graduated and just moved back to the Netherlands and am wondering how to update (1) my fiancé's physical address to correspond with the mailing address, (2) my (USC) physical address to the address in the Netherlands and keep my mailing address in the US? Additionally, (3) I will be moving to the US already in August to ensure that I will have an appropriate income to provide for my fiancé. When I do this, how can I update my physical address to correspond to my original mailing address in the US? Sorry if this is confusing. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance (:
  11. HELLO VJERS! This August 1st, we will move to a new apartment, in the same county, same city, same state. I am currently in my 105 days of waiting for my i485, i765, i131 applications. Biometrics done 5-5-2017, No RFE/RFIE yet, sent an SR for my EAD on my 91st day but still "under review" status. 1.Will this delay my application? 2. Should i file the change of address online, by mail or phone? 3.Is it true that uscis doesn't allow usps to forward uscis mails? Any response is highly appreciated!
  12. Hi guys! It’s that time again. I’m preparing for my Removal of Conditions process (I still have one month to prepare). But I was reading some posts and got a little bit confused? My husband and I moved to a new residence last year and I filed for Change of Address online (for me, the beneficiary) a few months ago. However, I read on here my petitioner still needs to mail a Change of Address? Is it true? Also, is there a way to check if USCIS got my new address? I did get a confirmation online right after filing Change of Address but I wanted to make sure they have it in their system. I don’t want to have problems in the future. Thank you!
  13. Hello, I like to know after receiving my two years Green Card, If we move to a new address, do I still need to make the changes with USCIS or wait until we apply for removal of conditions?
  14. Hi! I have a really quick question, sorry if it's an issue or a bother! I recently changed residence (well, living in the new place already but still bringing stuff from our old home, we got till the end of the month), and I was going to update my new Address on the Uscis site but i have a question: When choosing the "form Sub type" (main type being an i-485, since i did an Adjustment of Status from a student visa), which is the correct option to pick? I assumed its either "family based adjustment" or "other", but I want to make triple sure of anything i do with USCIS at this point. Thank you so very much for any help!
  15. Hey VJ'ers. First of all, I apologise for posting this if the answer is out there! I have searched but can't really find a definitive answer. Anyway, I have my 2 year conditional, it expires March 2019. ROC is a process I haven't even BEGAN to look into.. it has been nice to not have to worry about immigration for the last year!! With ROC soon approaching, I need to ensure my address is all good. I moved from OH to AZ in December. I filed the AR11 ONLINE in Jan. I have NOT had anything back. I have since MOVED AGAIN after buying a home, so this is now permanent and hopefully no more moves, but now i don't know what to do about the address. I seem to not even know what address they have. If i call i told to F-off (well not quite that, but it may as well be). I get told to not file my address change again, and make an infopass app. Yet info pass i check every day for 2 weeks now and I can't get an appointment. It's very frustrating. What is your experience? What happens about this address if i just leave it until ROC? I really don't know to do ! Any advice appreciated.
  16. Question about change of address: Our NOA2 is (hopefully!!!) coming soon, but I'm about to go stay with my fiance in England for the summer. I don't know if it's better to change my mailing address to my aunt's house who lives near me, or if I should change it to my fiance's place in England, and change it back when I come home. Any advice???
  17. https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/undeliverable-permanent-resident-and-employment-authorization-cards-and-travel-documents-be-destroyed-after-60-days Starting April 2, USCIS will destroy Permanent Resident Cards, Employment Authorization Cards and Travel Documents returned as undeliverable by the U.S. Postal Service after 60 business days if USCIS is not contacted by the document’s intended recipient to provide the correct address. USCIS encourages applicants to report a change of address within 10 days of relocation using the procedures outlined at uscis.gov/addresschange.
  18. My apologies if a thread like this already exists, but does anyone know if changing your address with USCIS effects the processing time of the K-1 visa? I'm moving out of my current place, but will still be able to receive mail there. I petitioned Feb 6, 2018, NOA1 Feb 8, 2018, so USCIS probably has my case buried under a mountain of others and hasn't looked at it yet, so I imagine it doesn't effect anything. The paralegal at the law office I hired (currently regretting that decision) told me it has no effect, but I don't have a huge amount of faith in her opinion: when she filled out our petition using the information I provided, she listed my fiancé's country of birth as "Managua" instead of "Nicaragua" and she made a few other mistakes on the petition as well (luckily I caught the others).
  19. Hi everyone. First time poster! I have a question.. I am italian and I moved to the UK 4 and a bit years ago. My residency change is being processed but I'm wondering if I should stop the process. I am going to change my address twice by the time we start filing and the time I'll (hopefully) get the visa - would it be easier if I moved my residency to Italy where my mom lives? I'm pretty sure I'd anyway have to be in Italy for the interview process and such. I'm worried that my change of addresses would cause problems with my visa or it would get it lost.
  20. Hello, I am a US citizen living abroad with my alien husband We applied for his i-130 through mail processing and sent the form w/supporting documents to the Chicago Lockbox. On the application we gave our foreign address of residency as our mailing address. Then we received our first mistake notice at this foreign address in Turkey. After we fixed that mistake we resent the application to the Chicago Lockbox. Then, on June 26, 2017 it was received by the Nebraska Service Processing center where it is still being processed (225 days and counting!) We had our receipt number, so when we looked up the case status it said that they would send us a receipt notice with instructions about the next process in our case. But, we never got this receipt notice --- the NOA1. So I called the customer service phone number and a representative told me that they had sent the receipt notice to us but because she was only a Tier 1 officer she didn't have the authority to know which address it was sent to/tell me which address they had on file for us. So I don't know the current address information they have on us. We had written the domicile address in New York on the application as well, but, my relatives at the domicile address in New York told me that they didn't receive any receipt notice either. I have been trying to get in touch with USCIS about this issue. When I talked to the Tier 1 USCIS officer she had told me that as long as I have the receipt number I don't need the receipt notice. But I'm still worried because I don't know where they will send the NOA2, or if we will even receive it! I don't want to lose our chance of approval because of a mistake in our address information. Because I live abroad I can't reach a Tier 2 officer on the phone due to the 120+ minutes of wait time and they don't call back international phones. I have issued inquiries about this issue through the USCIS My Account Online site and am still waiting for their reply. Also, I may have accidentally registered a different address on the Change of Address request form of the USCIS MY Account menu and now I think it has completely messed up our address information because the system requires entering a state--- therefore, it doesn't accept foreign addresses. *** Should I give our domicile address in New York using the 'In the Care of' option on the Change of Address request form instead of our foreign address? But, of course, our Visa Package will be sent to that address and there is the chance of there being more confusion or delays. What should I do? Should I send the Nebraska Service Processing office a letter re-stating our foreign address? Should I try reaching a Tier 2 officer through the telephone? If so, how can I contact a Tier 2 officer more easily--- is there a special tactic? It would help us very much if someone who knows anything about any one of these things or has had a similar issue can tell me anything or give me any suggestions. I would appreciate it a lot! Thanx
  21. Hi Everyone, My husband (beneficiary- Malaysian nationality) just transferred to Qatar for work (temporary- 1 year) and I'm wondering if I should inform NVC of his change of address and how. Note that his cousin is living at the current address and is able to receive all documents. I am currently able to submit the DS260 form. Shall I include his "new address" in this form or should I contact NVC of the change first? If I do so, will that really affect my overall application process? I would truthfully appreciate any advice I can get! Thank you so much!
  22. Hi VJ Family! It has been a while since I have been on this forum. My wife is a UK Citizen and we processed via K1 visa. We have been married for over 5 years now and she does hold a US Permanent Resident Green Card. I am trying to get back into the swing of things here and need a jump start. We have bought our own place about 2 years ago but we have not updated her ID Card or Green Card with the new address. Question is, how difficult is it to have the address changed? Are there fees involved? Lengthy Process? And most importantly do we need to update her address for when we start her Naturalization process? Also after how many years can my wife apply for Naturalization? Thanks!
  23. My Fiancée lives and works in Singapore, but may change addresses before her interview at the embassy there (she is a Filipina, but decided she doesn't want to have her interview in Manila). Does the "beneficiary mailing address" in the form I129-F matter for delivery of the interview packet from the Singapore Embassy,? Do they send the packet by e-mail, or how does that work? In case she moves, how can she change her mailing address in Singapore? Appreciate all the help. This is an amazing community! Duane
  24. Hi everybody! My name is Jenni, I am French and I am in the process of a Fiancé visa K1, I have my interview at the US embassy of Paris in January. My fiancé, who is the American citizen, recently moved and he informed the USCIS about that, but I filled and submitted my DS-160 form before that with his old address. So his address and the place I will stay (which are the same one) are now incorrect on the form. I tried to call the embassy but I can't reach them. I would like to know if someone who is familiar with the situation could help me. Thank you !
  25. Hi Everyone, I petitioned my wife last year of January 2017 but I-130 is still not approved. Case is still in Received status. My wife just moved to another house last year and my question is... Do I need to request a change of address for my wife? If yes, How? Please advice. Thank you,
