  1. Hey guys I have a small question that’s bothering me. I’m a US Citizen but currently living abroad and I have petitioned for my spouse with the USCIS. And I’m going back to US this week to re-establish my domicile after living a lot of years in Sri Lanka. So as y’all know when you move somewhere you’re required to inform to the USCIS about that. But I do not want them to mail me the letters where I’m planning to stay at. Instead I want them to mail me the letters and everything to someplace else. So my question is when I move back to US and when I inform them if they’ll confuse and mail me the letters where I’m planning to stay at. Just give me your thoughts on what should I do. Thanks guys!!!!
  2. Hello fellow VJ, I will be filing I-751 (Jointly) in June 2020 however, there is a high probability that my wife (USC) and I will move out from the existing address (address which will be filed on papers) as my wife will start her College in fall 2020. I would appreciate if someone can help to answer few questions. 1) If we file I-751 from San Jose (Santa Clara County) address and later move to Oakland (Alameda County) does it affect I-751 application processing time? Based on various forums I understand that both San Jose and Oakland applicants are interviewed at San Jose field office. 2) If we move to Southern California (LA/San Bernardino/San Diego County) after filing I-751 from San Jose, CA. How does USCIS will process the application? Will it reset the timer at the processing center? 3) Does my wife have to file I-861 and AR-11?
  3. Hello! I've been reading posts about "change of address" but I didn't find something accurate to my case. I'm still in a k1 visa process. My fiance is going to move to another apartment where we are going to live together as soon as I arrive. We are filling the documents where he is still staying because we are in a apartment hunting yet. So my question goes, once we move to our apartment, my fiance has to call USCIS and update the change of address? do i have to do someting else? Thanks so much!!
  4. Hello, here's the situation -- My husband is a US born citizen and I have been an LPR for 4 years. I am trying to start the naturalization process ASAP because he’s been offered a temporary job in Europe for 2.5 years that starts in 8 months and we want to minimize the time we have to spend apart and we plan on living permanently in the US when his contract is up. I know there is rule that to file the N-400 you have to have lived for 90 days in your current USCIS district and I’m wondering if I have to wait before filing since we moved 6 weeks ago — before that we were between leases and we went on vacation and left our stuff in storage. We had our mail forwarded to his parents in another state but did not reside there. 😬? Before putting our stuff in storage we lived in the same county and would have been served by the same USCIS district office. In total we have lived in the district for 10 months if you don’t count when we were away because you think that breaks the continuity. Does that satisfy the 90 day rule? It would if the rule is not continuously living in the district which it doesn’t seem to explicitly say. - If so, what should I put as our address when we were between leases on the N-400? If not, because it has to be continuous and/or our time away restarted the 90 days, I guess I have to wait before applying. - do I have to wait 90 days from my move-in date or 90 days from when I filed a change or address with USCIS? (I very stupidly forgot to change it for about a month 👎🏼). Thanks for your input! 👍
  5. I have been reading here about this but i mostly found old threads, so i just want to confirm. my husband won't be having a permantent address for a few months so we would like to use his parents address instead for the rest of the process. Do we only need to put the new address on the forms i-864 and ds 260? or do we also have to call/email NVC to let them know? Instructions on the I-864 say to fill out the form I-865, but that's only if you change address after submitting the I-864, or no?
  6. After about more than 20 attempts on updating my address, I keep getting the following error: New address ZIP Code is invalid. Please try again. After putting all of my info of my new address, i get a pop up message saying: USPS found an address matching your entry. When i select it to confirm it is accurate it then says: The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has updated your address using the USPS format to ensure that your mail is delivered correctly. We are stationed overseas and to receive and send mail we have USPS on base. I'm just frustrated to not be able to keep going forward! Does anyone know any shortcuts or suggestions on what to do besides calling? It's a bit tricky with a 16 hours difference
  7. Hello everyone. I recently moved to Japan under military orders with my husband. In the Uscis website there’s a box I was able to check letting them know I’m a spouse of a member in the U.S military, however I’m having trouble with the format of our mailing address. I put all the information needed but what I get from the website is the following message: WARNING: There was an error from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) address service. Please review the address you entered to make sure it is correct so the USPS can deliver mail to the correct address. I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong.. Any help will be much appreciated !
  8. I know my sponsor must file I-865, Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address. But what else do I need to change the address for? I-130, I-485? What about my old I-131 and I-765? PS: I am a conditional LPR. Thank you.
  9. Hello, everyone. My husband and I are moving the end of this week and we were trying to file AR-11 online as USCIS website but I could not done for it. It shows as the attached picture. All my Form numbers were correct with their own receipt numbers . Any one had you have a problem like me, please give me an ideas!
  10. So, I've just moved and when I go to update the address online, I keep getting this error: The following error(s) need to be corrected: You must select the Form Number associated to your Receipt Number. The Form Number you selected does not match our records for that Receipt Number. The problem is, I don't have any other receipt numbers other than the one that appears on the NOA extension letter and the biometrics letter. Both numbers are exactly the same, no other new receipt or different receipt numbers were sent to me. Is there some reason the online USCIS change of address page doesn't recognize the only receipt number I have?
  11. Hi everyone. My husband (USC) and I (immigrant) moved to a new address in February. I filed for my change of address online with AR-11 few days after the move. Today, I received my ROC reminder letter through auto-forwarding with USPS. USCIS sent the letter to our old address. I thought it was weird since I already filed for the change in February. I only got a request confirmation thru email. I also just found out my husband needs to file his own change of address today! (ignorance of the law excuses no one, I know). We are going to mail his i-865 as early as we can tomorrow. I hope everything will be okay. We are due to file for my ROC next month. Should I file for another AR-11? My husband's change of address is definitely past the 30 days period. Is it going to be okay? I am soo freaking out right now! Anybody had the same experience? What did you do? HELP!
  12. I am confused with the change of address form AR-11. I am a conditional green card holder, and I don't have any pending petition. I have not applied for removal of condition yet. A few days ago I moved to a new place within the US, and I was about to do change of address (AR-11). I thought I could file AR-11 online, but it says Note: If you do not have a receipt number, you cannot update your address online. on this page ( https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAInitForm.do;jsessionid=FE1FCF4B175B869A9972F4719CAE459A ). What is a receipt number? Is it talking about I-797c receipt notices you get when you have recently applied for something? Since I don't have anything like that, is paper form the only option for me to file the address of change?
  13. Do you have to report the change of address regardless of how long you are going to stay in that place? I am a conditional GC holder, and I am planning to move out of my current place with my US spouse because the place we currently live in does not have many job opportunities. We are planning to move to another state, where there are so many more job opportunities, and where my close friend lives, and she said she could offer her place for both of us until we can get a job. She already spoke to her landlord and they were so kind that they allowed us to live there for some time, without being on the lease. Now my question is, at this point, I have no idea how long I will stay in her place. Should I still report the change of address, even if we won't be on the lease? A related question would be, in an expensive area such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York, I know some people who don't own a house, nor rent, but just live in a hotel room because that can be cheaper than owning or renting. In cases like that, do they just have to report the hotel address and room number? What length of stay is too short to have to report the change of address?
  14. So after 7 months I just knew I had to report address change of the sponser. The sponser is also the petitioner on I-130 (which we submitted change of address for.) Should we file I-865 or I-130 change of address was enough? How screwed are we?
  15. So does anyone did Online change of address after wedding but before AOS application? I enter US through K1 visa and then we moved out of my Fiance's parents house to an apartment after the wedding. The address indicated in K-1 (I-129F) petition is his parent's house. Do I need to change address online before AOS application?
  16. We are a few days away from sending our AOS packet after getting married after Thanksgiving (K-1 visa), and we've been back and forth on what we should be doing about our recent address change. A little after new years we moved into a friend's apartment so that we didn't have to live with my new in-laws while we wait until we can afford a place of our own (once I get EAD and find a job we will be looking to move). I know I have to file a change of address with the USCIS (within 10 days, eep!) and I'm going to do that before we send off our application as I believe its simpler doing it that way (only have to file it online). My question is, will this change of address cause us any issues? For example, I've read a lot about people needing joint leases as proof of living together when they go to the AOS interview. We plan by that point we will have our own place and be on that lease together, but will it be an issue that we weren't on the lease at this current address and are just staying as guests. While we will be listing our new address on the AOS application, we are also keeping my in-laws as our mailing address for the application, as well as other non-visa things (e.g medical insurance, payslips, etc). Will USCIS take any issue with this? I don't want to arouse any unnecessary suspicion. I'm thinking everything should be fine but, erring on the side of caution, I thought I'd post this for peoples' thoughts on this, am I still missing something? Any help or information anyone have to add would be great!
  17. Hello everyone, I am in need of advice. I may need to change my address soon due to unforeseeable circumstances. My fiance's K-1 Visa application is currently waiting to be adjudicated at the California office. If I change my address will it negatively affect the processing time or the application itself? How would I go about changing it? I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the application. What are the experiences that some of you have had with changing addresses? Thank you so much for any advice.
  18. Hello everyone, I tried to make some research on this specific matter, but I found different scenarios than mine. My husband and I are moving to California for one year only, or temporary at least. I know I MUST change the address on file with USCIS, also because I have RoC in progress, but do I have to change it also with the Secretary of State? Can I leave my previous address (as we'll be back at it anyway, my mother-in-law lives here) for USPS and DMV, and changing it ONLY with USCIS? Let's say the answer is yes. On March I will be applying for Naturalization from California, and I know I need to be living there for 3 months before being able to apply. Will they ask for like a proof of residency in California? What proof may that be? Work? Because if we keep our driver license the same, without having the California one, how will I prove I have been living in California for 3 months? Sorry for all the questions, and possibly confusion. I appreciate your help. Giulia
