Hello

The official guideline says to type N/A when something is not applicable to you, however I've read that some just left it blank. What do you suggest to do? Ex Other Names Used or in the address of the petitioner when asks for province and postal code etc.

Also my Fiancé William also goes by the name/nickname of Bill with friends and relatives, he never used it on official papers, shall we put it in Other Names Used? If yes shall we put it in item 7.b. Given Name ????

You'll get either way, blank or N/A as acceptable honestly from a lot of different people.

As for nicknames... William, a lot of people get called Bill instead, that's normal. It's not official so no need to list it honestly. My husband's name isn't Zian, it's a nickname he's had for years; but we never mentioned it because it isn't anything technically official/legal.

As already mentioned, both work. You can leave them blank or fill them with "N/A". I personally like the "N/A" option because it communicates, without question, that I didn't just overlook that field, I reviewed it and I'm declaring that it's not applicable to me.

No need to list a nickname unless it's appeared on official documentation or if it's drastically different from the legal name, so just stick with the full legal name. Michael/Mike, William/Bill, etc., this is normal stuff that doesn't require anything special.

Type or write N/A, else you run the risk of the sending an RFE for something that doesn't apply.

Nick names do not have to be listed. I go by Debbie, and only 1 person can get away with calling me Deb. Debra is my legal name. That's what I put on all the forms.

As previously said, type N/A because this is what you should do according I-129F instructions, when somthing does not apply to your case. Never leave anything blank on forms.

As it comes to the nickname, IMHO, one puts it down when actually one uses it in professional/legal situations.

For example, my fiancé used to go by Tripp in professional/legal situations and we put it down. I go by numerous of nicknames, but non of them is provided in a form since they are used privately among friends and family.

But this is just my private opinion :)

Good luck!
