This morning I received 2 emails: one saying green card in production, and one telling me to check my uscis account. Upon checking my N400 has been scheduled for oath. Letter is not in documents tab yet, so not sure of the date, but I’m assuming it will be one of the Aug 22nd ceremonies @ LA Convention Center.

I as well had my interview yesterday morning in Santa Ana, CA.

The interviewer was very pleasant, I was asked for my ID, Permanent Resident Card and Passport.  Went through my application, yes/no questions and the civic test.  At the end, I got a paper showing that I passed the test and my application has been recommended for approval.  The interview last about 20 minutes, I was in and out of the building in under an hour.

 

This morning, I received a notification that I have been scheduled for Oath, no document yet.

 

@CJKylie Congrats!! I didn't know which one was you yesterday 😁.

So we just got an email with results of our interview. It's a RFE. They want:

  • State and federal income taxes, including W-2s
  • Leases/mortgages
  • Bills/receipts
  • A letter from employer reflecting marital status, emergency contact, beneficiaries for health/life
  • Bank statements showing joint accounts
  • Birth certs for our children
  • Any other evidence.

We didn't bring the evidence we submitted with out application to the interview because I was too busy to prepare it and I didn't think we needed it. We started this process through a K-1 visa. Why are they asking for this information now? And why is our interview outcome dependent on this information? We have submitted it multiple times and have already submitted it with the N-400 application. Hate to pull this card, but are we seeing this because we are in a conservative state and a gay couple? I am at a total loss. Maybe it's cause we didn't print off the 100's of pages of papers we submitted with the application to our interview? Is this typical?

I'm sorry to hear! No advice, but I would just submit whatever you have from that list, and explain why you don't have something if that is the case. And I would go as far back as possible. I doubt you have to account for every single month, but probably one bill per quarter for each utility? And same for joint accounts.

 

At least the good thing is that Selective Service stuff got resolved. Thanks to you, I am going prepared with that too. I regularly work 13-14 hour days, and document prep on top of that has been rough, but it looks like it is necessary. Thank you SO much for sharing your experience! It helps others a lot!

Interview went well, glad my spouse came. Officer invited us both and explained that she will be performing both interviews. She had a folder 2 inches thick on her desk - our file :-)))

So she went back 3 years asked many questions how we met, common friends etc. Asked DOB`s of kids. Looked at all pictures, glad I brought more. Asked for recent bank statements, tax transcripts, utility bills, insurance and so on.

She was very nice and professional about all. So we talked for at least 30 minutes and finally she said that my I-751 approved and I will get a new card within 30 days.

 

Then she said we gonna do N400 interview. She asked 6 civic test questions. I answered all correct. Asked to read a sentence. Asked to write a sentence. All passed. 

Then we were going through my application - all questions I had to answer verbally. I`m glad we did that because one of the questions on the N400 I answered incorrectly - Part 12 Quest 19. It appears that Conceal carry license that I have falls under that category. So she corrected it.

 

Also she asked me to sign a form that I wasn`t aware that I have to register for selective service.

 

I had a couple driving  tickets from two and half years ago and because of that my n400 wasn`t approved right away and will be reviewed within 120 days. 

I also brought quite a few support letters from various people "for counter weight" my tickets.  She said that they prefer them notarized but took them and put in the file.

 

She also said if my interview was in April then these tickets I had would be out of 3 year review period..... Fingers crossed.

I had my interview this morning and the officer said he has approved my application. Also said I should have my oath ceremony in two weeks or so. 

 

On on another note what happened to the Dallas field office thread for n-400? It just disappeared. Anyone else in that group?

Congratulations. My wife had her interview on 8/8 in Dallas and she was approved. Now she in line for the oath  ceremony . I wonder how long is the wait
