Hi everyone,

I'm gathering evidences for I-751 submission. I requested for copies of our IRS Tax Transcripts. But my wife and I were only sent Tax Account Transcripts. Would these be fine or do we really need the Tax Return Transcripts?

**Our tax account transcripts for the past two years does show that we filed jointly married and they were sent along with a cover letter mailed to our joint residence. I guess I'm just not too familiar with their difference of significance.

Thank you for your input!

Tax account transcripts prove you paid your taxes.  Tax return transcripts show each line of your tax return.  Most of us submit tax return transcripts.  It depends on what you need to prove.  If you need to prove filing status and “good citizenship” then it sounds as if the tax account transcripts will do.

If you needed to prove income, then you would definitively need the tax return transcripts.

Good luck

Hi, thank you for your response. I only need them as part of our proofs of bona fide marriage for the removal of conditions. So do you think this should suffice for that purpose?

Tax return transcripts are what you should supply for ROC.

Ok, thank you for confirming. I was just reading some posts online that said that tax account transcript should be fine. To be safe, I'll try going to an IRS office and see if they can get me a copy of our tax account transcript printed out and I'll submit both Tax Account and Tax Return Transcripts for ROC...

We don't have any credit cards as of the moment. We cancelled all of them. To verify your identity to create an IRS online account, they require that you must have a loan or credit card which we don't have any. So the only options we have to get copies are to either request copies via mail which we did. However, they sent us the tax account ones, not the tax return ones. I agree that it would have been easier online rather than having to go to any government office which can be such a drag. As much as possible, we're trying to avoid that. lol. Thus as well, we want to submit a complete and thorough ROC application.

Update (To Those Who Might Find This Info Usefull): I called IRS through 1-800-829-1040. I spoke with a representative and was able to get a copy faxed to me. They never mentioned that you could do this if you go to the IRS website lol. I thought I should just give it a try and it worked

You can also go into an IRS office.  Most people don't have fax machines.

True 👍🏻 I read the reviews of our nearest IRS office and most of the comments were that they were rude and dismissive. I didn’t want to put myself in that position where I had to deal wih people like that 😄 Thankfully, the person I got to talk to on the phone was helpful.
