Obviously we could pick any number of a dozen news articles to discuss this so feel free to add more.

The "outrage" after the event seems to me to be the ultimate in "snowflake outrage" for the sake of being outraged. People are complaining that Wolff insulted Sanders' appearance. Where did she do that? I haven't listened to any audio but the three jokes I keep seeing quoted are:

"I'm a little starstruck," Wolf began. "I love you as Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid's Tale."

"I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful," Wolf said, setting up her next jab. "She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies."

"I'm never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders," Wolf continued. "Is it Sarah Sanders? Is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Is it Cousin Huckabee? Is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? Like, what's Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women?"

The only one of those jokes about "looks" is the second one, and it is actually a compliment ("perfect smoky eye"). The one I believe people think is a jab at her looks is the first one comparing her to Aunt Lydia. To that I say - Why are people insulting Ann Dowd (the actress that plays her)? Wolff didn't comment on Dowd's looks at all, and it is everyone else that seems to assume that the comparison is an insult. The outrage over insulting looks is more of an insult to the actress than it is to Sanders.

I'm not really see the "big deal" about any of it. The first two jokes were perfectly fine to me. The third is a little more out there and sadly probably went over the heads of some people in the audience.

Thoughts? I'm sure some will disagree with me ;)

It is interesting that you label the outrage as "snowflake" when most of it is coming from the Leftist Media types.  Regardless, didn't see this live, but did see clips, Wolff really wasn't that funny which seemed a little sad to me since she is supposed to be a funny writer/comedienne.

On another note, the WHCD is really a joke of an event, but I understand that with so many leftist in one place, bullying would be expected.

I agree that the response has come from both sides. I don't usually use the left/right labels personally so I don't care where the outrage is coming from. It's snowflake outrage regardless of whether it's Trump or "lefties".

I don't generally find Wolff funny on the Daily Show when I see her (I think that's what she is on?). I found the first two jokes a little funny (my wife and I are watching Season 2 of HT so it's topical), the third I understood but I didn't really laugh.

Whether she is funny or not wasn't my point. Was she offensive? Yes but that is always the point of the comedians at this event. Her jokes were harsh but they weren't as bad as people are making it seem.

And they definitely weren't insulting her appearance.

When a comedian/comedienne has to resort to laughing at their own jokes on stage, you can tell they are not being funny.  From what I saw, this Wolff took the attack personally, and it was not lighthearted either.  I wonder if she (Wolff) could take being attacked personally for her physical appearance just because of pure political hatred.  The interesting thing is that the WHCD organizers probably knew what was going to be said since Wolff is not a journalist, but rather a performer, so the outrage from their side seems a bit manufactured.

hey bcking, are you sure this deserves it's own thread? shouldn't go under the "Liberals Urge Nation To Respect Minorities’ Opinions Until Those Opinions Contradict Them" thread? there has to be a thread about liberals destroying free speech somewhere here already...

Where was Sanders attacked for her physical appearance?

She was complimented for a perfect smoky eye shadow.

Yep, it was meant to be a compliment.

I haven't been following that thread. I thought it was just about Kanye West so figured this was a different issue.

It has morphed, but what else is new.

However, this is a different thread considering that both sides of the aisle are outraged by Wolff.  I am not outraged, just wondering who actually thought she was funny.

I didn't hear her delivery and in the past I haven't found her funny and I think she needs to work on delivery.

However I have to admit I did laugh at the first two Sanders jokes. We just watched episode 1 of season 2 of HT so the Aunt Lydia joke was topical for me so I did chuckle a little.

I just don't see where the rage is. She was making jokes about lying and being a "propraganda tool" for the White House. That is essentially the Communications Director's job.

All this stuff about insulting her looks or her as a woman...I just don't see. Where did they insult looks? If people thought the Aunt Lydia joke was about physical appearance that is an insult to the actress. Do people find her ugly? That isn't what her character is about, so why bring it up?

Didn't see anyone advocating anyone be silenced in the other thread, but I digress.

Don't all WH Comm Dir., lie for a living?  I think the outrage is just how unfunny Wolff was, from the clips I heard her jokes were just bad with a lot of silence that made things seem worse.

Interesting, it seems the outrage is coming from both sides (politically).  Why do you give the leftist expressing their outrage a pass?
