I had my interview/confused what CO told me

Hi visa journey community !

I'm hoping to get some clarity on my situation , any thoughts greatly appreciated .

I  had my interview at the embassy in Moscow a few days ago.

The CO told me all my documents look good, she asked me a few easy questions, and she didn't even want to look at my photos and other proof of continuing ongoing relationship .

Her exact words to me after the interview were " your documents look good, we'll wait now for the medical ex results ".

On the U.S. Dept of State web site for case status , it has my case under " administrative processing ".

Is this because the embassy and CO are still waiting for my medical ? I heard admistrative processing is a bad thing !

I asked the CO after I receive my k-1 visa, how much time validity do they give me to enter the United STates , she told me 3 months .

I thought you have 6 months to enter the United States after the k-1 visa is issued .

The embassy kept my passport , don't know if this is good or bad .

Thanks everyone !

Everyone goes through AP. It might take couple days or it might take weeks or months. I wouldn't worry about it right now.

You have 6 months from the date of your medical exam to enter the USA.

K1

29.11.2013 - NoA1

06.02.2014 - NoA2

01.04.2014 - Interview.

AoS

03.2015 - AoS started.

09.2015 - Green Card received.

RoC

24.07.2017 - NoA1.

01.08.2018 - RoC approved.

As mentioned above, AP is normal especially if they are waiting on the medical results.  Keeping your passport is a good thing.  It means that they expect to issue you a K1 Visa, as long as the medical results are ok.  And you do have 6 months to enter the US.

Thanks!  If indeed I do have 6 months to enter the USA, then why did the CO tell me I only have 3 months?

My medical was Feb.28, I had to do further testing and the results won't be ready until April 10.

Does the clock start ticking as soon as your do your medical for the visa validity ?

I was hoping that if and when I get my k-1 visa in April, I would have 6 months to enter the USA, I have many loose ends to tie up here .

You are not guaranteed 6 months from issue date.  As @Roel stated, it normally depends upon the date of your medical exam.

Actually it depends on your medical.

if they found something, they can make it valid only for 3 months.if everything is good they give you 6 months. It is written on the website of the clinic I’ll go for my medical exam.

Do you know what was the conclusion of your medical exam?

Thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
