Hi there

me and my fiance are planning on filing for the cr-1 visa in a couple weeks after we get married.

My question is, once your completly approved and get the "yes" to enter the USA on that visa, how long do you have leave? Do you have to leave right  away to the usa? can you leave a month or so after?

not that ide like to wait after approval, ide like to go be with my hubby asap haha :) but im asking just for personal reason (more so school reason and a headsup for myself)

Thank you! :)

six months from the date of medical test

An immigrant visa is issued with a maximum validity of 6 months, but if the medical expires sooner then the expiry date on the visa will be shorter to match that.

You'll have plenty of time to plan, it takes a year or longer to get the actual visa after filing for CR1.

The visa will have an expiration date, usually six months after the medical exam was done.  The expiration date is the last day you can enter using the visa.
