Honestly- I dont think a lawyer is necessary for this process. Everything is pretty much explained on the NVC website. But i do understand some people dont want to risk it. Unfortunately the lawyer probably isnt handling just one case and that will delay things a bit more

Yeah you're right but with advice from family members we opted on getting lawyer. He did help with expediting our case. He does have a lot cases and that's why for the delay plus hes very very thorough. Sometimes because of the fact I want my hubby here I become impatient but I feel secure that he can make sure we don't mess up on anything and not delay the process too much.

So all I can do is wait. Hopefully once everything is submitted the rest will go smooth :D

My mom's divorce paper. I didn't think it was important.

How were you notified about the checklist? or did you find out by calling?

I was just looking at this earlier and noticed they removed the list of embassy prefixes under electronic processing (I recall they’re expanding). It’s not just me that can’t find it now, right? I’m now worried that my country will be added to the list and I’ll be in for that 8 week and over wait!

That is really weird. I wonder what embassies are gonna be added to electronic processing, it's not super practical not to have the list to check anymore.

My birth certificate, marriage certificate and police clearance are in both French and English. Does it mean that I need to do it to be purely English before mailing them? I am from Cameroon and docs are bilingual so I am doubting if I still need any translation since its both French and English on them. Any help????

No, you should be fine since it's already in English!

Technically speaking, even if it was only in French, it would have been fine without translation because the NVC also accepts documents in the official language of the country of interview : "All documents must be submitted in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa. If they are not in the official language of that country, they MUST be accompanied by a certified English translation." (Source).

But people still get English translations when their documents aren't in English so there's absolutely no risk of getting a checklist (I will be doing that myself because my documents are in French only, even though it's the official language of Belgium where I'll have my interview).

Quick question, I received my CC confirmation over the phone on Tuesday, will I also get a letter stating this? Or will the next email be about the interview?  Thanks!

I’m so upset with NVC ):

8 weeks and 1 day (they received my case January 31st )  pivot case...

we we talked to someone who was very ignorant and wouldn’t answer any of our questions...

Our case was sent to a supervisor on the second week... and we were told he checked our case JUST to know why was it taking so long and put a note saying it was because of the unexpected influx and DIDNT ASSIGN A NUMBER BECAUSE OF THAT... wth...

they sent the case to another supervisor and it can take another 6 weeks... wonderful...

I got mine after 8 weeks. Received by NVC on 01/22/18 and got case no on 03/21/18.

How many days NVC takes to look at the submitted docs via Pivot case, CEAC. I submitted on March 23 not seen yet. Status Shows Submitted.

It took them about 3 days for mine to change from "submitted" to "accepted", except for one document that needed to be fixed & reuploaded. They emailed me about that document. So I'm just waiting for that last one to change to "accepted". Then I guess we wait for either a checklist or cc. Not sure how long that will take.

I wish u the best dear as we go through this journey. Slowly but surely.
