Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am back with an update after soooo long. :)

* Non - pivot case

* Scan date March 1st, 2018

* Case complete March 28, 2018 ( Exactly 4 weeks guys)

Called to confirm just now when I saw AT NVC

I hope this will give hope to others waiting for CC.

Now waiting for interview date at the Lagos Embassy.

(Side note: for those yet to send in documents, please double and triple check because they are really finnicky and go through the documents with a fine tooth comb.)

In addition, I thought we would get a checklist and I will tell you why;

* I was overseas in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and didn't file taxes for that year ( I went to the IRS to get a letter that I didn't file for 2016, took me 5 minutes at the IRS office for free and I also typed and signed a letter explaining why and sent to the NVC)

*I started working in the US after my return in October 2017 so I did not have enough paystubs (I only sent 5 months of paystubs)

* The co-sponsor I used had filed his taxes jointly with his wife (so I had to send in his W-2 to the NVC so that they could see his own wages separately and I only included only the figures on his W-2 on the I-864)

I was pleasantly surprised that I did not get a checklist. For those who were overseas in the prior tax filing years be sure to read up what I sent in  to the NVC (see above).

Lastly, anyone waiting for an interview date at the Lagos Embassy?

Just pure luck that it took 17 days for us to get NVC Case Number assigned after USCIS NOA2.  I did call several times and they escalated to a supervisor after waiting a standard 2 weeks.  Pure luck before loads of cases were dumped on NVC and now the waiting standard for a case number is being quoted at 8 weeks.

Just got our case complete and entered into spreadsheet.

NOA2: 01-23-2018

NVC Received: 01-30-2018

NVC Case #: 02-16-2018

NVC Fees Paid: 02-26-2018

NVC Doc SD: 03-01-2018

NVC CC: 03-28-2018

Guys, posting this because it might be helpful for pivot cases (submitted electronically). We got a checklist just because the biographic page of the passport was in landscape mode when we submitted it, and not portrait. So please make sure your documents are all in portrait so you guys don't get a checklist for something so small like that!

This happened to me on Monday...a few pages of our marriage certificate were landscape...so I had to fix it. But at least they are looking at them fairly quickly!

Thanks guys, really stupid requirement if you ask me, but whatever, at least I know. Does it matter which way you scan the document as long as the page itself is in portrait mode? So say page is "portrait", but the scan of the birth certificate is sideways in the document... thanks.

Have you tried saving it as a pdf and then change to portrait? It shouldn't rotate if you do that! Let me know if it works! :)

Got a case number, but it’s not “active” yet? What gives? I have the case and invoice number but haven’t gotten any email from NVC yet (and YES, they do have my correct email and YES I checked spam folder). How long does it take between getting case number and receiving the welcome packet?

From my experience, it seems like they don't care if it is sideways - it just has to be in portrait. One of the documents I submitted was sideways but portrait and they accepted it just fine but rejected the one that I could read just fine (without having to tilt my head) but because it was in landscape. I can't tell by looking at the pictures which one is portrait but go for the one that is in portrait.

No, the document cannot be sideways. the text needs to be able to be read from left to right in portrait mode. And yes, stupid requirement!

Huh that's so weird! Because I had two documents sideways but they didn't reject those but rejected the one that was in landscape. I guess it would be best to make sure it is portrait AND also not sideways!

It seems like they are giving conflicting answers! My suggestion is to do this (this is is what I did and my document was accepted after doing this):

1. Screenshot the first picture you have (the one that's NOT sideways), save that as an image

2. Open the image and click "print"

3. Save it as pdf. Here you should see an option to save the document in portrait.

This way, you will have the document displayed correctly and it will also be in portrait, and not landscape.
