Can the U. S. petitioner attend the interview with his fiancee in Manila?  I was just curious if I could actually go into the interview room with her or if I just have to sit in the lobby and wait.  Thanks.

Yes, you can go to the interview with your fiance, I did with my then fiance now wife. There is no interview room it's all open and just windows people walk up to and have the interview at.  You being the USC goes through a different entrance than pinoys do, and you can leave your electronics there while pinoys can't bring them at all.

Yes, you can. ;) Had to have my interview at the US Embassy in Manila (where I was based at the time), and my then-fiance was with me. Lucky he was, too, because I had a phone charging cord in my bag and couldn't bring it in. Would've had to chuck it if he weren't there!

Just bring your passport and you're good to go.

There is no longer a interview room.

They are done basically out in the open where you stand up and talk to the CO thru a glass and you may have a interview going on either side of you as well.  Insane to me they conduct them in the open now of days.

The CO will usually allow the petitioner to stand next to Fiance during a K1.  Spousal Visa like a CR1 or the old K3 is where I have seen the CO not allow the husband to be there, and told to stay seated.

Gone are the days where you sit outside the Interview when you number is called waiting to go into a room for a K1 Interview

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Yes it is a great experience to go along with your fiance. I would highly recommend it!

I went due to several special circumstances that pertained to our case that if the interviewer asked my fiance about i wanted to be sure to follow up with correct paperwork for her. Such as my shady background, we are using real estate for support, etc. Of course after months of preparation and a computer bag full of documents (less the laptop of course) the interviewer didnt even bring any of these subjects up! And HEY, im NOT complaining. :P

Secondly, she wanted me to go with her. To calm her nerves mostly. She keeps insisting her english is not good. She was worried that when nervous she would lapse into Tagalog. She actually speaks very good english as i am constantly telling her. Im so proud her. She speaks my language so well and here i can barely mumble out a couple words of hers.

As you all know, there is the option for a translator. This option was being used by others as we were there.

My wife thought the same way about wanting me there because she was nervous. The CO ended up talking to me more just bsing around longer than he talked to her.

You may of noticed it doesn't matter much.. English - Tagalog .  The CO that interviewed my wife quickly switched to speaking Tagalog when my wife hesitated with answering his question.  I was impressed.

An off-topic post has been removed, along with a quote of it.

The OP has received answers to an often-asked question, so this thread is now closed.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
