Hello!

Im so happy to find this forum, my first time posting. I filed mine in the Atlanta field office and after my biometrics appointment I got a message about 2 weeks later saying they transferred my case to another field office and haven’t heard anything since. I’m afraid my case is lost bcecaeie I haven’t gotten any new documents online or in the mail as to why it was transferred or to where? Has anyone else had their case transferred? The plus side is my timeline estimate has been shortened, but everything else is a mystery.

Case transfer? Are you talking about N400 or perhaps its a joint filing for ROC/N400?   Normally if you get a transfer with N400 its a joint filing and the case transfer means that its gone to the NBC for interview scheduling, how long it takes though is normally dependent on your field office.

Hi everybody - just checking in... my info still says that they might process my N-400 in January. I'm ticked that I won't be able to vote in the midterms, but it is what it is. On the super-exciting plus side though, hubby and I have had our offer accepted on a gorgeous house in Tucson! (It's "Pueblo Style," which, to the uninitiated, means that it looks like a Flinstones house) Just had the home inspection yesterday (with no big surprises - some jobs to be done since the house is 30 years old, but all stuff we expected), and we should close in the 2nd week of August! I'm SOOOOOO exited!

Meanwhile, congrats on the interviews/approvals since I was last here, my commiserations with the people waiting for their interviews/oaths, and happy summer to everyone! We're anxiously awaiting monsoon season here to lower the temps a little bit!

Is your timeline updated?

Well, mine says February 2019, and our interview is in 3 weeks.  So I don't believe those dates at all!!!!

Good luck - and congrats on the house.  That's a great bit of news!

Im guessing just my N400 transferred? It would be wonderful if it was moving thru toward the interview process tho. I’m not sure what the NBC/ROC is? I just wish it would update with why it got moved somewhere else. I’m glad my timeframe is shorter, tho I’m nervous because I haven’t gotten any info since that alert.

ROC is removal of conditions. NBC is where your file goes to set up an interview for N400. Unfortunately nowadays ROC is taking so long there are many joint interviews combining both. So if not ROC joint filing I'm guessing you filed your n400 through snail mail. Same thing though goes to NBC to schedule interview. NBC meaning national benefits center.

Oh interesting! I filed mine all online if that matters. I don’t think it’s anything to do with ROC. I’ve had my green card for almost 10 years, I should have applied years ago.

Really not sure then, although there have been plenty of glitches in the systems recently. I filed N400 at the very end of Feb.  Had my biometrics etc, but never got a transfer message and I filed online.  However, it is NBC who  prepare the N400 for adjudication,  so with that in mind it probably means your file has gone there to be prepared for interview.

We have noticed that there is some confusion out there about what our National Benefits Center (NBC) is and what it does.  The NBC serves a unique role within our organization as part of the Field Operations Directorate. The NBC was founded in 2001 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and was originally called the Missouri Service Center (which is why receipt notices from the NBC will begin with the letters “MSC”).

The NBC’s primary mission is to prepare applications for adjudication that require an interview at a USCIS Field Office.  A lot goes into preparing an application including conducting background and security checks and reviewing the evidence an applicant submits to support their eligibility for the benefit.

The NBC’s largest workload is Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, and Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.  These two applications will reach well over a million cases in Fiscal Year 2012.

In the Form I-485 process, an applicant must provide all initial evidence, before the applicant can be scheduled for interview.  If evidence is missing, the NBC will issue a Request for Evidence (RFE).  An RFE places a hold on the I-485 application, as well as the associated applications filed with the I-485 application (for example, Form I-130, Form I-765, Form I-131), until the NBC receives the missing initial evidence.

Missing evidence will not delay the processing of an N-400 application at the NBC. However, if the missing evidence is not provided at the time of interview in the Field Office, the adjudication of the application may be delayed or the application may be denied.

I have a friend who is a paralegal for an immigration attorney in Atlanta  she says that they have a lot of N-400 applications in Atlanta so they are very slow. She says average is about 10 to 11 month. I don’t know if that helps or how accurate it is.

I hope you hear back soon

I lived in Gainesville Ga for 16 years then moved to Illinois. I’m Glad to see another Georgian on here. Hopefully moving back as soon as my wife is able to transfer her rn license.
