You are still at nvc so you have time to get your passport renewed so your wife won't have any issues with your expired passport at her interview . An expired passport is an invalid document. You don't want your expired passport to be the reason your wife is placed into administrative processing until she gets a valid passport from you, she may be okay since you are sending a copy of your citizenship certificate but Prevention is better than cure

You can send your transcript or your W-2 documents that you get back after filing taxes doesn't matter they both have the same financial information that NVC and consulates are looking for,  I don't understand why people send W-2s and transcript but to each his own.

Because they are asked for it. It says so on the checklist they get from the NVC with the welcome letter. And I’ve seen people say that they sent in only the transcripts and got a checklist for the missing W2.

Here is an actual checklist that someone got with the welcome letter stating the doc that they need to send in.

I also got that same exact checklist. That's basically letting you know  what you can send. Some folks may already have their W-2s in their homes from filing taxes and would not need to order tax transcript from the IRS they can send that. and that is why you also have 3 check boxes one says enclosed, unavailable and not applicable. In other words if you have included your transcript then you would put an X on the box that said not applicable for your W-2. I only sent tax transcript. I was check listed but NOT for financial documents but for something as stupid as not dating my i864. I've noticed that a lot of people here has been sending W-2s and transcript but if you speak to anyone at NVC or you read the beginning of this Wiki you will see that is unnecessary also if you look at your W-2 and your transcript you will see all the information is exactly the same. But like I said to each his own, there is nothing wrong with documents overload/sideloading

I send irs tax transcripts but got a checklist for w2. They asked me to bring w2 to interview

We are in the same boat. You will upload the documents online instead of mailing them, that's why she told you to press 5 because it's a pivot case. Officially it takes 2 weeks to assign a case number. If it doesn't get assigned then it gets send to a supervisor. I hope that is not the case for you because from that point it can take up to 6 weeks to get the number. Just keep calling and see if they have it yet. Did they ask you for your names and birthdays. If no they don't even have those infos in the system yet. If yes they have it in the system and they are waiting for the case number. Mine was received on the 8 Jan. Still no case number. It was however put in the system last week. they keep saying it should be any moment now. Oh and you won't be getting a welcome letter per mail only per email. Everything will be done online.

OMG so many CC. Congrats to all of you. You are almost there. Wish you all the best luck.

I’m rowing the boat with you too. They received my case Jan 10th and still nothing. Got them to send it to a supervisor three times but I know this will probably just take the six weeks they’ve mentioned. Sigh. So sick of waiting.

At interview petitioner passport does not matter. Its beneficiary original passport that is required. People bring petitioner passport photo copy to be on safe side so i guess you are ok with naturalization certificate photo copy. She need to bring actual W2.

I see what you are saying and it makes sense bcz I read plenty of interview experiences at Mumbai consulate where they weren't asked for petitioner passport. However in the official checklist found on state department's website for Mumbai consulate they ask for petitioner passport copy, not sure if this only applies to US born petitioner!

To be on the safe side I'll apply for passport renewal and send her that copy.

I am also sending her actual W2s!

Thank you for your reply!

Best of luck

I agree with you, I am going to apply for a new passport and will send her that copy just in case!

Regarding W2s and transcripts I also found confusing information on net. For NVC I only sent them official IRS transcripts along with W2 statements from IRS (not once given to me by my employer) and I think this is fine for I864-EZ form. But when it comes to interview information is not very clear so to be on safe side I will send her copy of my W2s given to me by my employer.

Thank you for your comment! Hope you get your interview date soon!

I only put the 2016 and I had my CC without any problems!

I don't think it is necessary to put other years, but if you want to put the closest! :)
