The financials that matter are those of the US Citizen.

A USC or PR resident in the US can joint sponsor.

If you're a USC then surely "your country" is the United States? Or are you working somewhere else? It's not a question of whether illegal work is a "red flag" for your case - fortunately for you, your integrity is not under the microscope here, that of the alien is. You should be more concerned about other consequences. If where you are working is "your country", why the need to work illegally? Surely you have permission to work there?

As has already been mentioned, any USC or LPR living in the USA who is at least 18 years of age and with sufficient income or assets to meet the requirements can be a joint sponsor.

Did you work illegally to avoid having to report your income to the IRS? Good luck with that.

You're not making sense. You said you're working off the books - that's working illegally. You also said you're working but not reporting your income for taxation - that's working illegally. Now you say you're not working illegally. What's legal about what you are doing? If you're not working illegally why haven't you filed tax returns?

Take you time composing your post, make sure it is grammatically correct, difficult to follow, I assumed you were not the USC because of how it was written.

I'm confused as well by your posts----are you currently living in the US right now, or are you living elsewhere?  From your posts it sounds like you are living and working in another country?

I usually look at the post history to try and find the missing pieces to the puzzle. But this one has no clues. I did find it amusing that someone who is openly working off the books advised another poster on how to obtain past W-2s for an I-864.

Ok---to answer one of the questions in your original post, having a joint sponsor is not "red flag"----many applicants have joint sponsors.  A joint sponsor can be a friend or family member (or anyone really), so long as they are either a legal permanent resident or a US citizen.

I noticed that as well...and noticed another thing which gave me pause for thought.

To answer the question posted by Rkhan@123.....  Even with an  SSN, if someone is working "off the books" it is illegal.

This doesn't make sense. What's the question? There are many privileges of being a USC but there are also many responsibilities. One of them is obeying the law and another is reporting your income and paying the relevant tax liability. It's your responsibility to ensure that happens. If the company expects you to work off the books, get another job. Chances are they are shirking other employer responsibilities regarding safety and insurance if they are committing tax fraud.
