If he needs a medical probably drink/drug related?

Not an unreasonable assumption.

Ok, i figured this exchange out lol

OP added in an imaginary comma and read "why, was he refused ESTA?" as opposed to the question Boiler actually asked ;)

This is the first time i heard of a medical being required for a tourist visas? If it's drugs isn't it always just an outright denial?

There can be situations where a medical is undertaken, not very common but you see them.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Was told the esta could have been denied simply due to someone having same name, or due to the fact I applied for 5 back to back for the whole family travelling, I ain’t buying it, but the guy interviewing my partner was convinced my partner had lied on application as he had said he’d never travelled to America in 2015 which he hasn’t, Jamaica and Mexico are as near as we’ve got, documents now with courier so we shall await outcome...

So why do they want him to undertake a medical?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I think they may have two folk with same name and wires have been crossed, as he’s defo not been to American so how can they say he has, it was denied at embassy then e-mail was sent later in the day to request the docunentatiaddress n that was provided at the interview be sent to them to allow them to process the visa, I give up.......

Sorting out two people with same name is normally accomplished through things like biometrics and birth certificates, not medical exams. And even if the ESTA was denied due to a mixup, it’s higly unlikely that a B2 visa interview would have the same issues (due to said biometrics being taken for it). Something is not adding up in this story. Possibly to do with the questIons that are being ignored?
