Any way to choose a different USCIS field office than the one closest to your home address?

So I currently live in Jersey City so my local USCIS field office is Newark.

 

The problem is, I work in NYC and the New York City field office is 5 minutes walk from my office.

 

Needless to say if I had to go to Newark I would have to take the day off, drive there, pay for parking and waste so much more time for no reason.

 

If i could do biometrics and interview at the New York field office I would just tell my boss I would be out of the office for a few hours and just walk over to USCIS..

 

Any idea if this is possible?

3/5/2018: Another update saying i751 Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction

5/7/2018: Received Letter stating i751 Case transferred to National Benefits Center, Lee's Summit, MO 64064

5/30/2018: Interview scheduled for N400

7/11/2018: Attended interview and was informed it will be a combo N400/I751 interview

8/6/2018: N400 Approved

8/7/2018: I751 Approved

9/5/2018: Oath Ceremony missed due to travel abroad and letter sent to USCIS to reschedule ceremony

10/2/2018: Officially a US Citizen!

As far as I am aware, it just has to do with state residency and is only transferable if you move.

 

Chin up though, ours is 5.5 hours away, so at least a two day trip including a hotel stay.

You are assigned a Field Office according to the district that you reside in, you cannot choose/request what field office you want to go to.

 

USCIS only change field office under certain conditions like natural disaster,  closure of field office, extreme overload or the applicant moved and your reasoning do not qualify.  And if they change the field office then it would be within the same state unless you move to a different state or a closer FO in an other state would better serve that district.

it's not your call to choose which office to go. You will be assigned to according to your residency district. They dont care if this will bother your work or anything . if you care about your citizenship , you definitly have to make it by all means. most people take work days off for the appointments. no need to complain !

I am trying to find the SHORTEST wait time Field office so that I can go and live there for little more than 3 months before I submit my N400.
