What they said on info pass. Any updates?

It’s good news! My oath is now this Friday 1/12.

It was hard to get an InfoPass, and in the end checking daily at midnight was the only way I nabbed one, but it was well worth it. I waited only a little over an hour. The officer who looked at my case was very helpful. At first I thought all was lost because she said oath ceremonies in NY are on a 3-6 month wait, and I just would have to wait, but she said she would speak to a supervisor as soon as she got a chance - and she did! Less than an hour after I left the building, I got a call from an unknown number. I didn’t pick up because I screen my calls, but she left a voicemail saying she’d found an oath and would call again in 10 mins to check the date was good. She did, I picked up - and now just an hour later, I have the physical oath letter in my hand and am elated to be taking my oath on Friday morning at Pearl St.

It seems what happened in my case was either my file got delayed in transfer, or was incorrectly marked as “decision pending” in the computer system. I suspected something was up because immediately after my case went into “approved” status on the site, it went back to “you attended your interview.” Apparently it really was approved, but maybe got stuck somewhere in processing.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Congratulations, I'm so happy for you. I will see you there.

My case was also showed approved status, then another event with you attended your interview. I don't think it cause an issue, but these people are lazy to look into the cases to schedule or it depend on the officer who did.

Hello everyone!

I filed in May 2017 and my office is Queens. Unfortunately there wasn't an online option back then (or at least I wasn't aware of it) so I have been in line for interview since June 8th... They say this field office takes too long and as of today according to the uscis website, they are still processing October '16 applications. Does anyone have any experience with paper filing in Queens? I wonder if I can withdraw my application and reapply online since the online applications seem to go by way faster.

Yes! I forgot you are on the same day - see you on Friday morning. I'm easy to find, I'm a dead ringer for Frankie Muniz. :) Interesting that's a common thing then, you're right, must not have been the cause. She said every officer has their own process and timeline in terms of how efficient they are in moving the cases forward, so maybe I was just a little unlucky with my interviewing officer, but then super lucky today.

Did you bring orginal copies of your spouse's US passport, Birth Cert., or Driver License to your interview? NYC FO is apparently processing apps from April 17th, 2017 as of October 21st, 2016 per the latest USCIS update on Jan 5th. Its about a 3 month leap from their last update, so it seems surprisingly.

Anyone else notice it on the website and have comments?

Cheers!

You do need to bring with you proof of your spouse U.S. Citizenship (US Passport, Birth Certificate, etc,.), as well as the other documents the letter asked for.

However, every interviewing officer is different, they may or may not ask for them.

I would bring whatever copies you have and if they asked, had it over & explain the situation to them.

When my wife had her interview she brought a binder (which included an exact copy of her N-400 application which had a copy of my passport, drivers licence & all supporting documents separated by tabs), she also had the physical documents of my passport & drivers license with her.

The officer didn't ask her for my physical documents.

The officer did ask her who was that with you and she replied my husband & son (we were with her in the waiting room).

Also to note, although she have been a permanent resident for more that 5 years - she filed based on marriage.

Similarly here, I brought my wife's physical passport and birth certificate (although I'm pretty sure you're technically only supposed to bring just one). Was not asked for either of them by my interviewer. I'm guessing @thekfc's approach should work (i.e., bring whichever copies you have if you can't get physcials).

Don't worry you will get soon. One of my friend applied in March-17 and she got interview for January 25, 2018. Currently the cases are moving for the month of March and April. Hope you will get soon.

Not a good idea to withdraw N-400 at this stage.

I don't think I'd recommend reapplying:

* If you withdraw your application, they won't refund your original filing fees (they only do this if USCIS made an error), so you'll end up paying twice.

* Online cases do seem to be moving faster, but it's already been 7 months since you applied, and I don't think they move that much faster.

* The USCIS has presumably already done some work on your application (e.g. initiated background checks etc.) and they might not like having their time wasted if they end up having to do those things all over again.
