I have an appointment for an INFO PASS appointment in Pittsburgh on 15 Oct 2018.  I made it 2 weeks ago just in case.  my point was and maybe I confused this is that they have not sent out any extension letter since 25 July 2017.  The computer has my wife's case being transferred to Pittsburgh on 9 April 2018.

West Virginia only recognizes the actual green card.  Her state ID expired on Oct 24, 2017.  She gets paid with a paper check (her job does not offer Direct Deposit) and has been using her United States Military Retired ID card to cash her pay check and to travel domestically on air planes.  She uses her Philippine passport for international travel.

I just want her hard card.  West Virginia has some of the strictest immigration laws in the entire country .  Once she gets the new hard card she can get a state ID card for up to 8 years

I am a US Citizen I am talking about my wife who is a Filipina

This link clearly states W.Virginia accepts I-551 stamp in case to get a Driver License. Like any other States.

Immigrants

Immigrants who are applying for a learners permit, driver's license, or identification card are required to provide the following documents:

  • One of the following:
    • An INS Form I-551 Alien Registration Receipt Card
    • A valid Temporary I-551 stamp in Foreign Passport (with English translation) or on INS Form I-94
    • Valid re-entries permit INS Form I-327
  • Social Security Card
  • 2 Proofs of WV residency

Besides, Immigration Laws ARE Federal Lawes and have nothing to do with State you live in.

Bob, another way is to just deposit paycheck  into bank account.  Then use debit card to pay bills, withdraw any cash needed, etc.  Many people rarely use cash anymore anyway since there are rebates available when credit/debit cards are used.

We are also in WV and wife was able to renew DL by showing the extension letter.

But, of course, we know that DL workers can give different decisions from state to state, and even different within same state for different cities.  Maybe even different decisions by different workers within same office !!!!!

Did your CRI-89 status change as well? it's the one case number that shows in the biometrics letter
