Donald Trump to Crack Down on Cuba

The so-called president delivers another round of wins to the American people. No wall. No infrastructure. No 5% GDP growth.

 

Either he has plans to sever relations with Cuba until he has the chance to buy some land and put a Trump property there, or Putin told him to get our of Cuba, as he ordered the so-called president to work a deal with Ukraine that would favor Russia.

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday will move to halt the historic rapprochement between the United States and Cuba set in motion by former President Barack Obama, delivering a speech in Miami in which he plans to announce he is clamping down on travel and commercial ties with the island nation to force the government of Raúl Castro to change its repressive ways.

Mr. Trump is expected to declare that the two-year-old Obama-era approach of engagement had amounted to a failed policy of appeasement. To that end, he plans to outline stiffer rules for American travelers visiting Cuba and a sweeping prohibition against transactions with companies controlled by the military, which runs vast swaths of the hotel and tourism sector, according to White House officials.

The changes are likely to affect both countries, making it more difficult and costly for Americans to travel to and do business with Cuba. The island’s population potentially may pay the steeper price, particularly Cubans who derive their livelihoods from tourism and increased business opportunities stemming from the opening.

If you sat down and built your dream team bad ### white house dedicated to the preposition the first amendment, Enlightenment, Newton, Rousseau, the Magna Carta, UNICEF, Mother Theresa, Chocolate and that fed, vaccinated, educated children were all evil forces what must be opposed with every fiber of our being, you could not outdo Trump and the damage he does.

Yep, lots of damage, the world is going to end, etc. etc. etc.  

 

Seems to me keeping diplomatic relations in place while pressuring Cuba to improve their human rights toward their own might be a good thing.  I realize the Left wants open appeasement as all we need to get together and talk, but sometimes it takes a little more. If Trump had completely rolled back the opening of Cuba, this story might actually have a point, but of course this is not what is happening.  It's called compromise.

The left thinks we should have zero restrictions on a comunist dictatorship like Cuba but lets have sanctions on a country like Russia that is trying to escape communism. Shows what their view on comminism is.

To be honest I wouldn't consider Putin's Russia a country that's trying to escape communism, rather - and this has been my view about them for a very long time - they're trying to go back there.

 

Honestly I'm not sure this is going to change anything about Cuba, it hasn't for decades.

Honestly I'm not sure this is going to change anything about Cuba, it hasn't for decades.

I hope this doesn't end up being the case for Russia.  Katya always reminds me that back in the USSR days, the store shelves were empty, but after the fall of Communism, there was and still is a lot more available to everyone.  I do agree, that just like almost all governments, the current Russian government does want to maintain as tight a control as possible, and they want to the people to be beholden to the government which is something that is really difficult to roll-back.

Yeah my brother's wife is from the Ukraine and I've known many people from the former USSR(as they make up a large chunk of Israeli population) - not good days to go back to but some of them do seem to like certain aspects of it, and I'll never understand the blind loyalty by some to "mother Russia" no matter what she does.

The alt-right thinks that an open Cuba poses a threat to the US, while giving a pass to Putin's Russia, which is as much a totalitarian state as the USSR. Shows how ignorant and disconnected from reality they are.
