Every man that went on to those beaches are heroes. We can only get any idea by looking at real footage or movies but it looked scary as hell.

May-09-2018   Visa approved, CEAC status changed to "Issued"

May-11-2018   Passport returned along with envelope for border control. 

Sep-18-2018    Entry through US Precleance Dublin, no problems at all.

Oct-02-2021    Notification of biometrics date

Definitely!  I listened to the radio and they interviewed a 93 year old veteran of the initial jump.  He was quite interesting talking about Eisenhower addressing the paratroopers before they left, and what happened after landing.

 

They were mostly all kids!

My wife's grandfather is 96 and was with the Canadian Air Force back then, he flew on a De Havilland 98 Mosquito. His job was to use the sight and mark when bombs were to drop. A few years ago we took a trip to an air museum at Virginia beach to get some photos of one of the last flying Mosquitos and then brought them to the residence he lives at in Atlanta. 

 

We had a chat with him about it and we asked if he was scared when going on bombing runs and he would reply "no it had to be done and someone had to do it". It's almost funny how flippant he was about the risks, a true gentleman.
