Hey everyone, I have a green card and last year February I made a big mistake and got charged with a DUI, possession and paraphernalia of marijuana. Since then I have paid my fines and I am off probation now.

I want to go to Germany in 2 weeks because my grandfather is really sick. I was wondering what's going to happen when I come back to the States? I am scared that they won't let me back into the country because of those charges?

I am also in the process of removing my conditions on my greencard and my lawyer said that the immigration officers can't legally keep me out of the country but I am still worried about it. Does anyone know anything about this? I would appreciate any replies.

I second what is already advised. Do not leave the US.

What your lawyer told you is wrong. Only U.S. citizens have the right to enter the country.

The charges against you were serious since marijuana is still a Schedule 1 drug along with heroin, LSD, and others.

Take the advise and do not leave the country. Instead, talk to your lawyer and start working on your removal of conditions because those charges are going to be problematic. You'll need all the help that you can get.
