Assuming he actually made those statements. Der Spiegel is known for putting out misleading and flat out false info. Like I said before they are the German fake news.

We have clarifications from the Germans...the initial quote was "Bose"  Evil but a spokesperson clarified the it was more like "bad"  So yes something was said.  Why is that hard to believe when you see what this man tweets?

I see Breitbart, Drudge, Infowars and so many other dodgy news sources from Trump Supporters, I dont really want to hear how WaPo and NYTimes don't meet your standards of truth.

I think it makes it much safer for all of us, and for our country, when the WaPo and NYTimes fall short of the standards upheld by the people who live in an alternate facts world.

Nor is it their fault the US likes to bail out its failed car manufacturers instead of letting someone potentially better take their place.

 

For a businessperson it keeps surprising me he doesn't realize a trade deficit is actually a positive for the economy as a whole.

I agree about the stupidity of bailing out the car manufacturers.. but to the bold, I don't see how.. it makes an economy more and more reliant upon the government to hold that standard up. It's obvious government intervention in an economy doesn't fix things, only makes it worse.

 

If the idea is that an economy be decided by buyers and sellers, having the government dictate winners and losers is counterproductive.

I don't have any real stats to back this up, but if not for the truck market I think the American car makers might be in trouble.

 

Not so much a fan of German automakers. I think Benz use to be the bomb,  back in the day. Not so much respect in auto circles now.  

 

Audi is a really good car. 

 

BMW is a fair car , but we see lots of people dumping them around 40k when they figure out how much it costs to work on them 

 

I got a buddy just got a 160k Acura. Not something I would do if I had that kind of spare change lying around.

I don't believe anything. I stick to what can be proven. And I certainly don't go by what some anonymous source for a publication who regularly lies says.

 

I have never posted from any of the sources you listed so your argument is a red herring. No the N.Y. Slimes (the toilet paper of record) does not meet my standards for truth. They were predicting a 95% chance of a Hillary win on election night right up until results came in. The Washington Compost is no better.

That is exactly why I am against protectionsim. And I've explained before how trade deficit actually contributes to higher GDP,  whereas a surplus means lower domestic investment which translates to lower GDP.
