A great day for my wife and I.  Her green card has arrived (and her work authorization too) and we had NO interview.  How normal is it to receive a green card with no interview?  (She arrived here on a fiance visa).

 

The green card is good for 2 years.  Even though it says "Permanent Resident" on the card, I think the two years means "conditional resident," right?  

 

Also, the work authorization is good for one year only.  I did not realize we would have to apply for another work visa in a year.  Is that normal?  

 

We did this all ourselves.  No help from lawyers.  Visa Journey has been a big help.  If we can do it, so can you.

Yeah, it happens. It's more common with AOS from a K-1, but it can happen anytime.

 

Yes. she will need to file for ROC in 2 years minus 90 days from the date listed on the green card.

 

The green card is proof of her LPR status, which includes the right to work. The EAD is no longer needed.

Not unusual when adjusting from K1 (relationship previously vetted at the visa interview). She IS now a permanent resident, but need to remove conditions after two years.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Question: if Sowmene has a conditional greencard after a K-1 visa entry through marriage, can they leave the US while on green card status for either vacation 2-3 weeks or extended work assignments outside the US (for a non-US company) 2-3 months?

Absolutely! No difference between a conditional and a "regular" residency in any way. I've left the country and returned every year.
