Checking in. I called the NVC and gave them my USCIS case number for our IR1 and they confirmed that they recieved it from the USCIS on the 8th of May, and may take up to 2 weeks for them to populate a NVC case number. So I assume that 8th of May is my first scan date? Me and my spouse currently reside in the U.A.E.

1.  After we get ours NVC number, would we need to log in online to submit additional documents? Or do they mail/email a list?

2.  What are the next steps and remaining estimated time frames from now till CC?

3.  After CC, does the case get sent to embassy for appointments?

4. Anything we can prepare in the meantime to save time?

Any assistance would be great.

Thanks

Scan Date: May 8, 2017

Embassy: Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Expected CC: July 24, 2017

So now I just wait for the NVC number, fill out ds260, send in AOS and IV package and wait for them to send to the consulate? Thanks

You should call NVC starting a week after the NOA2 approval date to get your Case / IIN numbers.

You then:

  • Fill out DS 261 Choice of Agent
  • Pay AOS Fee
  • Call NVC to review DS 261 over the phone since DS 260 unlocks a week or so after it's reviewed...otherwise it sits there until they decide to review it which can take much longer
  • Pay IV Fee once available
  • Once all fees reflect PAID, DS 260 will unlock shortly after
  • Fill out DS 260 and send out documents
  • 11 week expected review timeframe till case compelte
  • Status will show "Submit Documents" until your case is completed
  • When AOS fee section disappears from ceac portal, this is a likely indication you have been approved - call NVC to confirm

If you need more timeline details, you can reference the NVC Process guide in my signature.

Hello all.

The NVC confirmed our documents were scanned in their system on May 10th, I submitted the DS-260 on the same date.

However, when I check the status it says:

Action required: Submit requested documents

On 2017-05-10, the National Visa Center (NVC) received your Form DS-260 (Immigrant Visa Application).

It then says to submit documents to the NVC.

Does it usually take a while for NVC to update the status?

It will show submit documents until your case is completed.

Once your case is completed (expected 7/12 - 7/26), the status will change to At NVC and the AOS fee section will disappear temporarily from the CEAC portal.

Could you please ensure that you fill out your Scan date information : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdawgTdVMkGpoYPP7wm3yDovBUBwjS-_KL-S_W7FhDaHFEXhw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Hello everyone,

I have a question for the I-864. Since i am leaving the USA on Wednesday of this week, can I list my mother's phone numbers as my (sponsor's) contact numbers?

If I list hers and she is also our joint sponsor, will this become an issue? Should I list her as our agent so that she can call NVC for us?

Thanks,

Goobie2

Your agent will be the individual legally representing you throughout the entire nvc process which takes approximately 3-6 months (and sometimes more). They will receive all your information / correspondence and can respond on your behalf. It's really up to you who you choose as the agent and how easy it is for you to correspond with her throughout the process of you select her as your agent.

The I-864 should reflect accurate information about the sponsor. If she's your joint sponsor, her number should be listed on her I-864 and yours on your form. If she's listed as the agent, I'm sure they would call her but I doubt they'll call you for anything within a week or two (if ever) and if they do, I'm sure they'll leave a message. Really depends on how long you're leaving for.

Ok, so my understanding is that I should not list her phone numbers as mine. So I won't have an American number when i leave. Do I just put my Ugandan phone number instead? Won't this raise issues about domicile? I will be in Uganda until I can come back with my husband, so that is roughly 6 months or more.

I've called the NVC and today my Case number and IID number were assigned today the 15th of MAY, 2017.  When I tried logging into https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx it gave me an error which states "The selected Case Number and Invoice Identification Number combination you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the National Visa Center for further assistance."  I called again to reconfirm that the Case number and IID number is correct, and the agent told me that it was current and I need to wait for the email to be able to log in.  I've noticed in a couple of timelines when other members get their case number and IID they were able to login the same time to complete the AOS and etc...

Thanks

Don't stress, the same thing happened to me and it was because they were doing something on their end that would not allow me to do anything.  Keep logging in every hour or so and by the end of the day you should be able to gain access to your case.
