Trump proclaims 'Loyalty Day,’ gets mocked over 60yo tradition

It is interesting how closed minded those opposing President Trump are.  If he hadn't issued a proclamation like practically every President since Eisenhower, I am sure there would have been a couple of stories about how he really didn't like the country and was not loyal, but that he does issue a proclamation like Presient Obama did, he is labeled a budding dictator. 

 

Internet denizens are splitting their sides at the thought of US President Donald Trump proclaiming May 1 "Loyalty Day." However, the seemingly wacky nationalist day has little to do with the divisive Republican and was officially cooked up in the 1950s.

 

In a statement released by the White House, Trump proclaimed May 1, 2017 "Loyalty Day," urging people to reaffirm their dedication to the United States of America.

“The loyalty of our citizenry sends a clear signal to our allies and enemies that the United States will never yield from our way of life.

“Through the Department of Defense and other national security agencies, we are working to destroy ISIS, and to secure for all Americans the liberty terrorists seek to extinguish,” the proclamation states.

“We humbly thank our brave service members and veterans who have worn our nation’s uniform… Their unwavering loyalty and fidelity has made the world a safer, more free, and more just place.”

The notion of a "Loyalty Day" was met with derision and hoots of laughter online. This is “the creepiest thing” Trump has done, wrote one commenter.

 

Others compared the day to an event that might happen in North Korea or Russia.

So called president's that fail to respect the other two branches of government, flail incessantly against and label all critics 'enemies,' Tweet 3 am nonsense... The list goes on, but while this declaration might be just a normal thing Presidents now do, this so called president is merely reaping the division his crass style has sown.

I would rather the so-called president stoped talking about declaring loyalty to the US and started acting it instead.

 

He should follow the lead of some 300+ million Americans who proclaim their dedication to our country by going to work and paying their bills, so the so-called president and his family of grifters can continue to promote their personal interests above those of the nation.

The only difference is I don't remember anyone on any side saying anything about President Obama being a dictator in relation to his Loyalty Day proclamations.  Quite honestly, i hadn't even heard of Loyalty Day until the MDL attacked President Trump for his proclamation.  That is not to say no one ever criticized President Obama, but not in this specific instance.

I never heard a peep about this.. like who gives a fig? Apparently it's a big deal when Trump does it too. 

 

Left are so incensed about anything Trump does it invokes fits of rage that seem to melt away their long term memory or ability to think rationally. Is this not entertainment?

You mention an article from RT.com. RT is a leftist news organization, and as such much be deemed fake and untrustworthy, according to the teachings of the supreme leader.

Was anything reported in the article untrue?  Did RT make up the twitter quotes?  I realize it is not a mainstream source, but the general reporting appears to be truthful.  Besides, I do enjoy reading articles from Left Wing sources as well.

Maybe not in regard to lyalty day, but every time Obama signed an executive order he was called a dictator, which is really kinda humorous after seeing how many executive orders The Donald has signed in just the first 100 days.
