Oh I have one question for the group. I am the beneficiary. Has anyone had their beneficiary or, if you are the beneficiary, have you gone to visit your fiancé in the States after filing for the K-1? I really want to go visit her in Delaware and my parents in California, but I worry about being turned around by immigration. I mean, I obviously do have intent to immigrate eventually (even though my intent on the tourist visa would only be to visit).

If so, did you bring proof of ties to the country and did you face hard questions by the immigration officer?

best,

Adam

Of course you can visit while going through the process. The tourist visa is not affected by this until after the interview when they approve you for the K1 visa. Once you're approved they will cancel the tourist one.

And yup I live in Newark, De, a half mile down the road from University of Delaware. Dover is only 45 mins from me.

Again welcome to the forum but also welcome to your soon-to-be new home state, Delaware!!!!! :D

ROC Filing:

4/21/2021 - Sent ROC Package via FedEx

4/22/2021 - FedEx package delivered and signed

5/11/2021 - Check cashed

5/14/2021 - Received NOA1 via mail (NOA1 date: 5/8/2021)

6/9/2021 -  Biometrics waived - Case updated to Fingerprints taken

Hi Adam,

Just saw your post as I guess  I'm really a May filer...however i've been mostly on the April filer forum... We filed in April but received NOA1 5th May. I went to see my fiancee right after we filed our application and it was fine. I was super stressed and brought loads of stuff such as bank statements, letter from my employer and also the application with me. I was litterally though immigration in less than 5 min. They asked me some quick questions on where I was going to stay. I said my fiance and the immigration officer just asked some questions about what he does for a living, where we met etc and when we are gonna get married. I said Im not sure when we'll get married cos we just filed for K1 so whenever that come through and he was like oh ok good luck and sent me on my way. I didnt need to show any evidence but I would still bring some if I was you. My POE was JFK by the way.

Sorry for the double response, I'm just now playing catch up but, you don't have to bring any proof of strong ties with you. The officer will ask you for your purpose of travel and you have to be honest. If you want to carry proof with you so to speak, have your fiance send you a copy of the NOA1 and show the officer that you are currently going through the K1 process and are awaiting for it to be approved but that you still have intention on coming back home to settle your affairs after you get the approval.

Philly airport, I feel, is very smooth and not as critical as other airports (not saying that they are easy, just that compared to states that have a high risk of foreigners traveling through there and not leaving is a lot lower). If you've traveled here before on your tourist visa and left, that also shows you have good intentions on coming back home. But at the end of the day, I'm giving you my opinion, not fact so should be prepared to answer honestly with no hesitation.

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! ♥

You guys should try to register (tada, it's free!!!) for USPS Informed Delivery! It's helpful to track NOA2. I know most of us expect it around August ish, but who knows, my friend is a 69 days filer and got her NOA2 already few weeks ago.

Sign up at www.usps.com and after signing, go to this website: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action. USCIS uses USPS as their courier, once registered for informed delivery, USPS will send you emails about the mails you're receiving for the day, with a photo of it too. :)

I went to the USPS website the other day to track a package and saw this.. but I couldnt really understand it..

do they tell you when someone else sends you a letter so you know to expect it? is that what it does?

THANKS!!

I've been more than anxious since May!!!

Live, love, laugh.. and try not to think too much about USCIS

Basically, yes. Anytime you are receiving mail, they will take a picture of the front part of the envelope and send an email notifying you that you're receiving this letter in the mail. Every time you are getting mail sent to you, you will receive the notification.

don't know about that however they have already touched some May cases, as 4 have gotten RFE from early May NOA1 dates. Very good sign :D. I would start expecting to see approvals for some May fillers this  Month and next.

Yes, it's on page 31 on this thread too. :)

Their case is expedited, they're a May 15th filer and NOA2 date of May 22. Her fiance is in the military, that's why.

But since they're touching May cases, we can expect a miracle now! Yay!
