soooooo crazy to think there is anything to learn from the past government policy or that any individual (or whole family) is affected by government policies. insane actually.

so families can not be affected by govt policy.. ?

It's crazy how much the left lives in the past to try and make contemporary arguments, without regard to drastic changes that invalidate their comparisons.

"KKK"

"Hitler"

"Slavery"

"Jim Crow"

But you would agree that past systemic racism is at least a  contributing factor , However the destruction of the nuclear family is by far the single greatest predictor

honestly, it isn't about the nuclear family but the amount of family support a single parent has. this is true across both white and black kids.

and the highest percent of  Black minorities live in... Red States for 1000 Alex

Red states. Majority of black persons in poverty.

Gives pause. Could there be a relationship between the two?

There is not a single state where the majority of blacks are in poverty:

should probably compare population size as well...

OMG! You must be the only other person that noticed (or cared to actually read the paper, maybe?). The so-called "study" says nothing about murder rate. It's only counting the total number of murders in each county. It's hardly surprising that there's a lot more murders in counties with a lot more people (like most of southern California).

If you're looking at actual murder (or homicide) rates, things get a lot scarier down here when Louisiana is the number one state, Orleans Parish is the number two "county", and New Orleans is the number four city on the latest tables I can find. And this is "Sportsman's Paradise" - we've got an awful lot of guns too...

Are these sportsmen the ones committing those murders? Or are they just a convenient scapegoat? hS7LG5P.gif

. The homicides also tend to be concentrated to relatively small pockets of those counties, the report said.

I don't like the use of homicides as well.. because that term, while including murders, also tends to include people killing someone else in self defense, or even killing someone else driving a car while drunk. I'm under the impression that for those of us left who are logical, murders would be the thing that would be far more concerning when discussing the issue of dangerous areas.
