Hello Everyone,

I and my daughter had an visa interview on Tuesday and we got 221g, as our medical results were delayed from the panel physician + they needed an original translation of my daughter's birth certificate.

Has anyone been through 221g and got your visa approved?

As far as I can remember I saw approved stamp on our file but I don't know if it's VISA application, USCIS or NVC files!!!

Hi sorry i dont have an answer for you or a happy ending yet - im still in limbo My daughter and i are in AP and have been since the interview - During our interview the evidence was hardly looked at and all he said was he's not convinced but he doesn't know what he is looking for. My question is would my fiancée coming down and going to the embassy to see the consular officer make any difference, is it even possible to request or schedule our own joint interview?

They do not even respond to emails from my SO after we submitted more evidence of an ongoing relationship. It honestly felt like the interview happened after the consular office made the decision to refuse which would mean he had not looked at any of our paperwork. Im from africa and poverty is our biggest sin in their eyes, we are not high fraud or flagged for terrorism.

any advice would be appreciated.

HI no still in that black hole labelled AP...but i have faith

My question was meant for the danish OP.

You are from Africa and the CO said his wasn't convinced so the news for you are probably not so good. They don't need to look at the evidence you bring that why you should have front loaded your petition they often have made up their mind before you even go to the interview. As I understand your post then you were given a chance to submit further evidence which is a good thing.

Hi even after further submissions of everything we had he still basically said it wasn't sufficient. We did not know what frontloading was and Rapid Visa did not bring it up.We submitted per their guidelines. The easy way out would be to let this defeat us we had faith in being honest and we had not thought to "stage" any evidence so since i completely hate pictures we took very few while we were together didn't keep receipts of things and weren't mindful of dates and things like that.

We had plans to do things together in the US and i am considering applying for a B2 to go to one of the events we had planned for when i get there even though my application is under AP. The worst thing they can say is no and in all honesty all we want is to be able to see each other every now and again, have dinner at a fancy restuarant, watch a movie, cuddle (soppy i know).

The odds are against me with the K1 application showing immigrant intent add the fact that I'm not mega rich, mid 30s and don't own property in my country. But from my salary without breaking the bank i can afford the +/-$900 for a return trip 2 tickets to my favourite show and then some even though i wouldn't have to pay for it all myself. He will come to Africa in September but it would be nice to see each other before then.

People get 221g and their visas issued after submitting the required documents. I believe you will get your visa once the embassy recieve medical and the translated birth certificate. Call the doctor and do the translation as quick as posdoble. The approved stamp is from USCIS.  It's usually dark or black stamp in a rectangular form.

My wife received a 221g at her interview, April 18, for more proof of the relationship to her child.  They asked for baptismal certificate, school records and age progression photos.

The embassy received the documents may 2.  May 3 file updated.  May 4 status changed from "administrative processing" to "ISSUED".  May 9 visa in hand.

I know the stress of receiving the 221g, but  it's not a refusal.  Just keep the faith and it will come soon enough. Good luck!
