Form I-134 must have an original signature?!?

As part of our ongoing efforts to be responsive to customer needs in immigrant visa processing, the Department of State is pleased to announce that original or “wet ink” signatures are no longer required on submitted Forms I-864, Affidavit of Support. This also applies to the I-864A, I-864W, and I-864EZ.

Starting January 1, 2017, the National Visa Center (NVC) will accept photocopies and scanned versions of signed Forms I-864 and associated documents. Please note that the form must still be signed; typed names and electronic signatures will not be accepted. NVC will only ask petitioners to submit an amended Form I-864 to NVC if the financial sponsor’s name and personal information are missing; there is no signature at all; or if there are missing pages.

 

This also applies to the I-134

Honestly,  I would check with the embassy because the Moroccan embassy said they still required the original or "wet" signature. But I think that is because Morocco is considered a "high fraud" country. Or they just haven't updated to this new rule yet. (HA! Over a year later)

This also applies to the I-134

It's clearly said about NVC, and not the Conslute (US embassy in your country),  For i-134, wet sign is mandatory.

I'm also interested to know whether or not we'll need the "wet" signature on the I-134. 

 

I guess it's best to ask the Consulate.

Ahh good point. Back to assuming I need a wet signature lol. I wish someone knew the answer for my embassy!

I know that this is far out; but did you end up  being okay with just using a copy of the I-134 instead of the hard copy with the "wet signature"?

Post is almost 2 years old.  Much can change.

 

What happens in Morocco serves as no answer for B&H.  When dealing with the consulate you must be certain to try to get a local answer. 

 

Most consulates however,  accept copy
