Hi everyone,

I am in the process of getting my paperwork sorted for my interview and I've just noticed they are asking me to bring the I-134 form with an original signature.

I have looked at the other posts and confirmed they definitely will not accept a scanned copy however how am I meant to do this?! I completed my part of the form and then i scanned and emailed it to my partner in the states and then he filled out his portion and signed it and sent it in.

Do i need to get him to complete another form and mail it to me??

Thanks :)

Yes, he needs to mail you the I-134 with a "wet" signature.

So just to clarify, they will be OK with another form being completed as long as it has his original signature on it?

What other form? You need to take a signed I-134 to the interview.

I emailed the Embassy in Kiev if they require my "wet" signature.

This is the response. So it seems you don't need a wet signature. Copy is fine.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Your fiancée can provide copies of financial documents at her visa interview.

Eh, this is hit or miss. There is a big differenCE between financial documents and the I-134. The I-134 is an agreement of support between you and the government, and almost everyone considers financial documents as the proof for the I-134, such as paystubs, employer letter, bank statements, tax transcripts, etc.

Note every embassy is different, what one may want, others may not.

I read this email as saying that you can provide copies of FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS meaning copies of:

  • Previous tax returns
  • Previous tax transcripts
  • Bank account statements
  • W2's

To me, it reads you can provide copies of the supporting documents - not a copy of the actual I-134 form itself.  I haven't heard of any US Embassy accepting the Affidavit Of Support I-134 form, at the interview, without an original "wet" signature.

To the OP: In my opinion - With all the time and money it takes to invest in a K-1 Visa , mailing out original forms with original signatures at this point would be best.  Better to over prepare and have everything you need, rather than not be prepared and face further delays.

Wet signature for Form i-134 is required because it is a declaration of the sponsor agreeing to support the beneficiary once she comes to the US. Financial documents such as paystubs, w2, Form 1040, bank statements so on and so forth can be just copies BUT since Form i-134 needs to have the "wet signature" to be brought to the interview, just have your fiance mail them altogether. :)

Best of luck! :)

I understand what everyone is saying about a "wet" signature for the I-134 but the US Embassy in Ukraine said it's not necessary. A copy will

do. I think every embassy is different. I was just curious because I've read so many opinions on what should be done. I plan on being there for her

interview anyway. And yes, I know I will not be "in" the interview I just want to be there.

I am sort of in the same predicament and I am nervous because the package is still in transit and it has been over 1 month.

I mailed out all of my I-134 package on April 12th and my fiance still hasn't received it. When I track the package, it still says in transit.  Luckily I scanned all the documents and emailed them to him before I sent off the package. I might be overreacting but we are currently 9 days away from our interview.

Is a copy suffice until we receive the original that is currently in transit? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance!
