sent in our N-400 and received on March 1, 2017.  This was well within the 90 day window, which my wife's date for becoming permanent resident is May 16, 2014.

Sent along with our N-400 was the G-1145 (E notification).  In those instructions said they will text/email after 24 hours of receipt of the N-400.  Now we have heard nothing about them receiving our application, fee, documentation, etc.

I quad druple everything before I sent it out, I am about 98% sure there was no mistakes on our application or the required documentation.

We checked with the bank on 3/8/2017 and to date the Cashier's check we sent has not been cashed or deposited by Homeland Security.

Now, from what I understand the G-1145 is a courtesy by USCIS not having to wait that 2-4 weeks for the 797 to be mailed to you, telling you they have received the package and with instructions how to set up a on line account for status inquiries.

Does anyone out there think I have a concern or even with sending in the G-1145 for being notified 24 hours after receipt.

Our process was sent to the Lockbox in Phoenix, AZ to the PO box number using priority mail, tracking number included.  Which the tracking information shows it was delivered on March 1, 2017.

Is there a contact number for Phoenix, AZ to try to verify receipt, or am I just at the mercy of waiting???  My concern is the Cashier's check, not being deposited yet.

Maybe we sent it in well before the 3rd year anniversary of my wifes permanent residency of 5/16/2017, and they dont do anything until that date, is that a possibility??

Thanks in advance for any assurance or reinsurance from the VJ'ers out there.

I sent my N-400 on 2/28 along with G-1145 and G-1450 for credit card payment.  They charged my card on 3/2 and I received TXT and email notification with NBC receipt number on Tuesday 3/7.   No letter as of yesterday.

Did they receive your packet on 3/2???  Been 8 days since they received my packet, but have not cashed the cashier's check yet??

Anyways, congratulations, and good luck!!!

Thank you for responding. Did you send them a G-1145. Also my wife became resident since 5/16/2014, sent it in 72days of the 90 day window. Maybe this is the reason why no email/text yet?   Are you 3 year or 5 year resident when you applied. Did you apply within that 90 day window or some time after that?

Unless something of terribly wrong with your application, you will get an sms/email.

We sent ours mar 1, was received Mar 2, we got our sms email March 9, check was cashed on the 7th. I too thought that the Dallas facility want sending sms at that point.

Also, as this more of a progress and status update kind of thread, you might have had better luck with the filling progress sub forum with threads on the monthly filers.

Bottom line is, i wouldn't worry too much about not having received the sms or the check not being cashed as long as you sent your application to the correct facility and in the right amount.

Good luck

I sent our forms 3/6, via USPS Priority overnight, received by PO box in Dallas on 3/8. I included both mine and my husband's in same envelope with separate coversheets and checks /packages. We are both filing under 5 year rule. I have been a resident since 2008 , he has been here for more than 20 yrs.

I have to imagine that they get hundreds of these envelopes a day if not more. I would imagine it pretty much goes in a pile and then it gets sorted by state or however they have it divided among the agents. Also, it is now tax season so a lot of folks would use their returns to pay for this extra expense.

So my expectation is that they would get to our envelope sometimes early next week and cash the check.

We included the e-notification forms in there but realized we forgot to put our A# on them ! Out of the entire package, these were the only 2 pages that didn't have A#s ! they were thoroughly attached to each of the N-400 forms so hopefully they will not get missed.

As far as the 90 day rule, I would not think the closeness to the date matters - they will pull up the A# and the system will tell them if they can process or not. It is just a matter of the size of the pile we end up in

Good luck to all March filers !!

I sent my paperwork to the Arizona PO on March 3rd using plain old USPS but had it tracked for signature. It arrived on Monday 3/6 and was signed for at 12:36pm.

I did include the notification paperwork. My paper check was cashed only this morning (3/10) i have yet to receive any form of confirmation, email / SMS etc.

Only knew of the check being cashed by checking my online banking.

p.s. been here since October 2009 way past the 5 year rule i know but felt it was time to finish the process. hang in there.

I was listening to NPR the other day, Historically only around 30% of Legal Permanent Residents have filed for Naturalization. But with the current shift in the attitude of US immigration,  there has been a massive increase in folks applying for citizenship. I can only imagine lead times and processing windows will increase in the months ahead.

Agreed - I know quite a few folks that were very happy as GC holders for years and years and have now hurried and filed for naturalization since January, ourselves included -

The problem is I don't think extra funds are being pushed towards USCIS to help with the influx and I don't know if the app fee is actually covering the volume increase.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi there

i sent my n-400 to the Dallas PO box on Feb 04 th and received the email approval on March 04 th.

It took a month but, in my case,  it was understandable because i also applied for fee waiver (i-912) which elongates a lot the process.

I guess the volume of applications is enormous.

I wish you well in your journey.
