I admit I have been apart of this group in the past but then I unliked/unfollowed them because of a number of their posts. Quite frankly this is only the Marine Corps fault really. They keep raising blocks and having pages deleted. All the while having these pages for Active and Former Marines to get together let off alittle bit of steam. It wasn't this bad when JTTOTS (Just The Tip Of The Spear) first started and it was loved by almost all of the enlisted and a number of the officers as well. But it was not PC at all and the MC had it banned, and the founder went through I think 27 versions of it before he finally got tired and quit.

Now you have some really weird ### hats running some of those pages, and some of them are REALLY BAD. I saw a couple shared posts of some posts that I thought were funny, so I liked/followed them. Then when I scroll the pages it was REALLY BAD to say the least and promptly disliked/unfollowed them. What people need to realize that as soon as you post something on some type of social media it becomes public and free for the taking unless the photo is watermarked. That's what people need to wise up before you post or send someone revealing photos.

I also remember JTTOTS posted a funny picture of a Female SNCO that had a serious duck face and they posted it up thinking it was funny. She wrote in ASKING not demanding, but ASKING for her photo to be taken down with a cool message as well. So the MOD for the group took it down and apologized because she was so cool about it.

Also for a number of civilians Marines/Soldiers of both sexes have some pretty weird humor. That means a number of times what stuff we consider to be funny or downright ROFL would make civilians be like #######.

This was apparently a disgraceful initiative, unbecoming of any Marine.

That is very true to say the least. A number of sites like JTTOTS and F'N WOOK like I said that the Marine Corps shut down in the beginning when they just poked fun at ourselves mainly but the Marine Corps thought it was bad was actually ran or moderated by women and that's the truth.

But these sites now are disgraceful to say the least and just make me sick. They should be shut down.

We Brits have a similar website for serving and ex-military, and there are times when the lines between what is ok or not ok get blurry. The simple fact is that the lifestyle, training and stresses of military personnel gives you a darker and more twisted sense of humour that is often distasteful to civilians.

The Armed Forces, even in these days of political correctness, are still by necessity very masculine driven.

Pornography is very common, with both men and women in the military. While it may seem distasteful it is true, many a young soldiers first vision of a naked female form was leafing through the pages of a magazine and many female soldiers have posters of the Dreamboys, the Chippendales, Playgirls centrefolds and naked athletes all over the walls of their rooms. At least that's true in the British military.

Even back to the days of half naked women being painted on the fuselage of WWII bombers and old B&W provocative photos carried by soldiers in the trenches of WWI.

Todays internet makes the audience bigger but nudity and the military have gone hand in hand for centuries.

That's the same way with the US Army and Marine Corps as well. You said exactly what I was thinking but more eloquently.

Yeah it's a Marine saying meaning that we are the tip of the spear of the country when going to war. It's primarily said around Infantry or Ground based Marines. We also tend to be more raunchiest and less PC type of Marines on average.

The reddit page is great and the jttots-com is a good one by the original founder but he hasn't been back to that site in a while.
