Do you have friends, acquaintances, family members, coworkers or any distant relatives who can help you? Not sure how effective it is to ask someone here to be your witnesses.

Maybe you can try to see if there are any LGBT organizations near you that can help you. I'm sorry that you have to hide who you are from the people around you.

See if you can find a Metropolitan Community Church listed in the Yellow Pages.  They are a very inclusive congregation - and usually the pastor is a gay man or a lesbian.

Best to you!

So, you mean the Pastor can come to the Courthouse to be our witness?

Not necessarily.  S/he might be glad to do so!   But there might be some nice people in the congregation who would be happy to do so,too.  Just tell the Pastor your story.   Are you truly that isolated in Wichita?  No gay book stores?  No gay bars where you could meet some new friends?

Yeah, We dont go to The Bar, so, you mean I can email to the Pastor and he can help us to find out someone who can be our Witness, right?

Most people don't know this, but you can use a total stranger from off the street to witness, if they are willing, as long as they have some ID. My friend did this, and the stranger even took pictures and sent them to her!

Can you explain deeply about your idea?? If we use the strangers? Where can I found them?

So you don't have any LGBTQ friends at all who could do this?

Definitely not a good idea to go trawling the internet as you won't know who you will find, same for grabbing a random person on the street walking by to do it. In fact most court house and wedding license locations tell you not to do this.

I recommend trying the witchita state university women's studies department, as a women's and gender studies department I am sure you would find someone who would be local and willing to be your witness. I work with a women's and gender studies department and knowing my students they would all want to come and help you celebrate your marriage especially knowing you don't have friends who would be supportive they would totally adopt you into their circle of friends.

In some states you might not even need a witness; but if you're doing a court style/civil wedding, someone in the courthouse can serve as a witness. Some times they even offer it online when you schedule the ceremony.

We had small family gathering for us; but one of the office staff at the court house offered to also be a witness just on the fly if we needed it.

Forgot about that Ben&Zian

California has the option for a Confidential Marriage License which doesn't require witnesses and the only people that can get copies of the marriage certificates are the spouses. Might be an option
