You can visit him, you are not breaking any law. The worst case scenario is that at the airport immigration officer can suspect you in immigration intent and not let you in. I went to see my husband last year when my package was sent already to embassy. I had all paperwork proving that i applied and got petition approved. I was asked at the airport where i am staying and what i am doing in New York. I went there before meeting with my husband in Arizona so i  wasn't lying when i said i am staying with aunt and doing sightseeing in NY:)

It won't affect the CR-1 process at all.

If you have a valid tourist visa you can visit him in the US. You just have to continue showing strong ties to your home and show that you do intend to return after your visit and not misuse the tourist visa.

It is always up to immigrations whether or not to permit entry to someone. And always be honest and up front with them if asked questions about the visit.

I went to the USA numerous times to visit my wife while we waited for the visa process to play out. No issues. As always, be honest with the CBP. Don't mislead or omit anything when speaking to them. I would bring documents to prove my domicile in Canada (pay stubs, utility bills, work id, lease or mortgage statement, etc) but they never asked to see anything. Best to be prepared though. Good luck.

It's worth remembering that no visa, even an immigrant visa, is a guarantee of admission. All visitors are deemed by default to have immigration intent and it is up to the individual to demonstrate otherwise. Good luck! I visited my husband twice during the process and was questioned somewhat more intensively but was admitted on both occasions.
