B2 approval or denial is never an exact science.

But highly unlikely someone just denied a week ago will be approved a short while later even with a different CO; unless something changed drastically. After all, the new CO will have access to the previous ds160 and interview responses.

It does not matter one bit who filled out the form on line. I did it for my retired mother and even said on the application that I will be paying for the trip. My mother is very proficient on the computer, but does not speak English. We were Skyping while I was filling out her application so she could provide me with correct answers.

At the time I was a LPR and she was retired with a measly retirement benefits after working as a teacher her entire life. She still has two sons who live with her (young adults) and is a widow. Has no interest whatsoever to immigrate to US. She was approved for 10 year B2 and visited once. My brother applied when he was 18 years old and still in High School and was denied. Just wanted to visit during the Summer vacation.

I think dissecting the possible reasons for denial is pointless. Have them try once again in the future, but not too soon as to not appear too desperate.

Good luck!

if your wife does become a citizen then she can file the i130 for her parents and then they come to the us visit and surrender thier green cards on the way out then apply for visitor visas. this way they can show the co they just want to visit since they willing gave up the legal option to stay. granted this path takes a while and costs more.

good luck

It happened to me, too. CO was super rude about the whole thing and so was the girl who took my papers. He said it didn't matter what I did, he didn't give a rats ### about my evidence, because he was convinced I was immigrating. They don't really care about your evidence and weather or not you're actually just visiting. They will deny you based on gut feelings.

Never worked in Egypt, but older people generally use their visas well and are approved more often than not. But if they're still working age and have limited earning potential in Egypt it will be harder to get a visa.

Nothing wrong with trying again. They'll speak to someone different and maybe a different officer will see the situation differently. Otherwise I'd wait a couple year and when the situation in Egypt stabilizes a bit it may be easier to get a visa.

Documents and particularly letters of invitations are useless. People bring fake documents to interviews, thus COs are trained not to rely on them.

My FIL just retired a few days ago. I suppose that now hurts his cause? Especially since I re-applied with the incorrect information now.

This is one of the reasons they should be the ones doing the actual applying, or at the very least in direct conjunction with you.

Misrepresentation on a visa application is a big problem.

Why is it so hard to put down facts on the ds160?

It's simple.. inlaws fill out the application from their perspective.. if retired, FIL says retired on the ds160. Why play around with words and facts? Information needs to be correct as of the day of submission.

Probably the same reason you asked that question. That's a good answer right? Obviously if you had read you would have noticed that the form was filled, then he retired.

Well, the confusion is that he is retired now. I am thinking if he gets asked and says he is retired, they may think: "okay well your submission says you work but now you are retired?"

That was my thinking. I regret doing it so soon to be honest. Thanks for all the replies.
