I have been a silent reader of this thread for awhile now. Thank you for all the informations you shared on this forum. Now it's my turn to share my/our experience.

My son filled our (husband & me) i485 last March 3, 2016. It was a grueling and painful waiting game.

Like most of you, my husband's case was stucked at background check. And my file cannot moved on according to our lawyer because I was affected by my husband's case.  After our lawyer referred our case to the Ombudsman  and after filing renewal of EAD, we finally had our interview last Thursday.

We were approved by the IO. And today I received the letter welcoming us to USA!

Congratulations! My mum filed for me and we have our interview may 1st after originally filing in 2010. Can I ask what interview questions they asked you?

congratulations again!

Questions were mostly based on the application that we filed. Like, have you committed a crime, etc. etc.  We brought copy or insurance, bills  and pictures too. But the IO didn't even look at them.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Mavato.

We're also stuck at the background check. We filed March 8, 2016 and don't have a lawyer. Now I wonder if it would have helped to have a lawyer...but maybe it wouldn't make a difference with the long-pending background check.

You mentioned that your case went to the Ombudsman. Can you share more details about that? Anything you can share would be helpful. That may be our next step as well.

Thank you!!

No, no updates here. I've joined the June 2016 filers, because it looks like March, April, and May groups have all pretty much gotten interviews and GCs at this point. Will still check in here though and update you guys if we hear anything. Not counting on it anytime soon.

Thank you!!

Our lawyer was the one who contacted the Ombudsman regarding our case last January. I think you can register your case online too And ask Ombudsman to help you in your case.  Google USCIS Ombudsman case assistance.

Congrats !!.

It looks like those of us who are waiting should take the step of contacting the Ombudsman office.
I am tired of asking the congressman office because all they say is the case is bending background check.

Hey, Msmontader, it's great to hear from you. Hope you're doing OK.

I'm thinking about contacting the Ombudsman's office, too. However, I spoke with a colleague who used to be a USCIS supervisor, and he said that the Ombudsman can't really expedite the FBI background check, either. BUT, COME ON!!! We're just at the mercy of a process that relies on paper files (for anything prior to 1995) that are shuffled between 265 offices nationwide?! That. Is. Ridiculous.

I'm tired of waiting. I bet you are, too.

I have a question for anyone still checking this forum--

I assume that many of us have USCIS accounts that we use(d) to check case status. Here is the question: when I access uscis.gov and click on "check your case status" to login into my account, what do those dates mean on my account page? There's a little table with columns indicating Receipt Number, Last Updated, Forum, Email Alert, and Mobile Alert. For the longest time, I thought the column for "Last Updated" referred to when I added that particular application to my account so I could track it. For example, the Last Updated date for my husband's i-485 is March 21, 2016. The Last Updated dates for my husband's EAD and AP renewal forms (I-765 and I-131, respectively), is January 24, 2017 for both.

BUT. Does that Last Updated date ACTUALLY refer to the last time a USCIS officer reviewed/checked/looked at the application???  If so, that is OUTRAGEOUS.

My husband wants to travel to Taiwan this summer to see his mom, but his advance parole expires April 29 and we have not gotten the renewal yet. We called the USCIS hotline and were told to call back after 90 days if we still hadn't gotten any updates. Ninety days after date of receipt would be April 12, 2017. SERIOUSLY?!

I. Have. Had. It.

Yea they do not speed up but at this point i am doing everything i can to just feel that i am not waiting on just uscis. it is good for my mental health to wait for the response of other agencies that might give different answer than USCIS. It's so sad but this is the reality haha
