I will have to go back and check, but I am pretty sure we can file an n400 while the I-751 is still being processed, if our residency falls within the allowed timeframe. Apparently this forces USCIS to speed up and adjudicate the I-751. I read this here on VJ and apparently lots of people have done it.

yeah, that's what i thought too. And i feel part of the reason why they are so slow with I-751 is also because it's in some ways additional administration and work on their part because they know we'll end up filing for N-400 as soon as we're in the 90 day time period from first receiving our green cards

Yeah...I am beginning to think that they are so far behind that they will let our cases fall into the n400 category.

As per USCIS website, it seems like we are allowed to apply but it won't be processed until I-751 is approved. Quoting from link below:

https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartG-Chapter5.html#footnote-6

"2. Spouses with Pending Petitions and Naturalization Applications

An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application."

You are correct.  We can file 90 days before just like with I-751.

True, I checked that also!

However, it won't force them to sped up I751 process. Without I751 approval the N400 application cannot move ahead.

Hi good afternoon, as I heard from that forum we are going to apply for citizenship with or without green card, but my question is how much time will all process take maximum? Some told me that it's gonna take two years from now , is it true or just street talk

Please check the sequence after receiving CR1 for 2 years :

1: File AR11 (If address change by petitioner)
2: File I-865 (If address change by Sponsor)
3: File I-751 (90 days before GC expire).

We just want to know apart from above three sequence, is there any other form we are missing ?

CSC and VSC are now running at the same pace.

In a few weeks, VSC will be faster than CSC

How times have changed :(

One year back in 2016, CSC filers from January would have got approvals next month- August, now 2017 filers have to wait 6 more months until Feb 2018.

regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

I don't think that is the case.  Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but I think you can apply for citizenship 3 months (90 days) before your AOS, or date on the first green card received.  That's my understanding.  We plan on applying for citizenship in January, regardless of whether we've received the 10 year gc.

Hi everyone.

As per checking, we should be able to apply for our citizenship before our 3 year GC anniversarry, however, one of the requirements for the application for the citizenship is the copy of our permanent GC, which is the one we are all waiting to be approved. so basically, we cannot apply for our citizenship yet unless we receive the physical GC. so hopefully before the end of the year or by January 2018 we all have it with us..

I agree with you, unless we get our G.C they will not proceed with citizenship applications, having citizenship applications running in parallel is a good thing, but that would not make our G.C processing faster or pressurize USCIS to give a quick approval unfortunately.

This long wait is extremely frustrating, only if this was 2016. All of us would have our approvals by this month or next month.

Crazy ....

Has anyone here tried to travel outside the US since they filed for adjustment of status? Technically, my green card has expired in April 2017, but has been extended for another year. The letter said we could travel during this time, but has anyone actually done so while waiting?
