If you received the notification about address change , then you should be fine . You would most likely send your AOS package to the Chicago lockbox https://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

After it’s accepted by them, they gonna issue request for biometrics collection after approx 3-4 weeks , and then your case will be transferred to your local USCIS office based on your zip code . Like if you live in Maiami , your field office is Miami and so on . You can lookup the closest field office by your zip code and based on that you can check the processing time for I-485 for your location here https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

and yes , it is safe travel with AP , unless you had unlawful presence at some point . Also note , you’ll be required to use AP to travel , your F1 visa is no longer good for entrance after you claimed your immigration intense .

So I received NFE stating to provide more evidence that our marriage is legit. They have questions like why were my parents and sibilings not here for the marriage. How do I explain to them that they were here for the cultural ceremony and celebration that we postponed for June of 2018. They were not here for the court marriage that we did in March 2017. Our marriage is legit and we have pictures and all dating back to 2008. And we also live together now and have joint bank accounts and assets. We plan on providing a detailed explanation and a ton of pictures to back it up. What do you think we should do? Are they really hard about these situations?

Hey, yeah those RFEs are pretty common and they are harsh about evidence. But don’t worry , once you provide all that , you’ll be fine . I’ve attached all supporting documents when was submitting I-130. I’ve sent : joint bank account statements, insurance , lots of photos , affidavit of support letters from friends , copies of wedding cards that were sent to us by our friends to our common address . Haven’t received neither RFE or approval yet . My friends though got same RFE as you did and they attached photos and letters from friends (supporting and confirming that they  have a real marriage and how they know them both , they also did them notarized). As per your siblings or parents not attending your wedding - you can attach letters from them (or from you ) explaining why so, and photos from cultural ceremony . I’m sure you gonna be fine , it’s a very common RFE .

Processing time varies from 19 to 25 months , and it’s different on case to case basis. Were  you changing your address ?if you did , may be they’ve messed up sending letters to the wrong one , it happened to friends of mine . Have you checked it online/tried calling to USCIS ? I suggest setting an appointment with INFOPASS , I’ve heard from many people it helps , even though they just gonna look up your case in their system , somehow it pushes the application . Worth trying , it’s free and might help . Also, why you didn’t apply for AOS ? You’ve been eligible to do so long ago , your PD is current and therefore no need to wait for I-130 approval . If for some reason you aren’t willing to go through AOS process, I still wouldn’t be worrying about I-130 yet - wait for a couple months since you are still within 19-25 months timeframe.

Srajeevan,

How will I know when my PD is current to apply for AOS? Thank you.

My mother also filled for an F2A, filing for my little sister Oct 2018 and she just turned 19 this month.  Is the approval date the date they approved your I-130?  I'm really confused with the process.  Can you tell me process step-by-step, please!

You have to look for second chart in visa bulletin , F2A category ( as of February , it’s December 2017, so if your I-130 was filled before that , you can apply for AOS) . In order to do so , you have to be in the US with valid immigrant status , otherwise you’ve got to wait until your I-130 is approved and visa becomes available (first chart of visa bulletin)

I'm not sure if this would help you track your status or anyone that do not see updates on the website uscis.gov .

Mine worked because they sent an RFE and on uscis.gov it doesnt show. But on this other website it does show the date that they sent the RFE.
