Hi vj family !!

I get my combo EAD/AP , do I have to go to renew my SOCIAL SECURITY CARD now( which says on my current card that "valid for work only with DHS authorization ???

My I-485 is still pending ?? Do I have to go to SS office to renew my card??

Also since I'm new to the country? May I please know if my credit score is good here?? As I wanted to buy car on installment and I need good credit score !

How they can calculate for people like me

Thank u

You have the EAD card which is the "DHS authorization" to work legally.

You only go back to the SSN office to get the wordings removed once you have your green card.

Your credit score does not exist as of yet.

Some big banks (namely Capital One) offer things like Road to Credit, where you get a credit card with a very small credit limit ($150-$200) which you also have put down deposit for. That's the best way to build up your credit score.

The SSn office told me I had to come back when I got my EAD so yes you have to go back I guess.

If you are new then you have no credit score. You have to built up your credit.

Thanks so do I have to go to change my ss card, even tho my I-485 is pending ??!

She told me when you get your EAD you come back.

You are wrong unfortunately.

The unrestricted card is given to greencard holders and US citizens.

I'm not wrong I didn't say it she did ;)

I'm going there anyway after EAD since my K-2 can gets his SSN number when he has that and then I'll see what happens :)

(Mine is already at no. 2 even though I don't have the work permit. So just shows they don't do it after that one)

Go to your bank and ask for Secured Credit Card for $500, use the card every month and pay every month, keep your credit down below 30%. That is the way to build your credit History. Usually after 3 months you will start appearing in Credit Reports.

Once you get the Green Card Goto SSN Office and get the Condition removed. Until that you are Good to use the SSN for anything.
