Some have commented negatively, on the value of "Off Topic" content. In other words, stating that off topic is Sh!te.

Personally, I sense value here, in most cases.

Given that we have ALL experienced immigration he!!, we deserve an outlet that offers a forum to vent and discuss any issue, any issue at all. We deserve it, all of it.

Most do contribute to the immigration forums, if not, get with the program!!!

How about you?

Thoughts?

It would sure be boring if we all agreed and every post was about puppy dogs and ice cream.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Amen to that, brother. The 1st Amendment is a beautiful thing.

I want to know if there's a big red target on my shirt though because why is it that when I post a political topic in OT, somebody who isn't a regular poster here accuses me of being a liberal propagandist? I mean, do they not see the numerous other political threads by Gupt, LS, peejay, or Gary?

I don't see how we can avoid talking politics, whether it's immigration or the war in Iraq. I just find it a bit peculiar that some get fussy about certain subjects (politics, sex, to name a few) and feel obliged to tell those who start a thread what they should or shouldn't post. Nobody forces anyone here to reply to a thread, let alone even read it. Censorship beyond the Terms of Service should be at an individual's discretion.

I used to think OT was a waste of space, but have since reformed. I now enjoy it, as Dan said, you need to take a break and breathe. For myself it takes the edge off of focusing on immigration and personal problems . Also makes for a good belly laugh from time to time.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Its fun and a break away from the "other" (immigration) thoughts constantly going thru our heads. Thats the point that brought everyone together and we have learned or asked when there was a need then we visit with friends during the different stages or waits. How boring would it be without it???? very

Off-Topic serves three purposes that I can see: 1) it builds a community, which is essential to keeping a board growing 2) it is a place to let off steam and 3) it keeps some people around after they've finished their visa process... meaning people are more likely to update their information, let you know how their lives are going, &c.

Hmmm, Off Topic is needed. That's where you go from "Working" to "Let's Have a Drink after work"..This is the place to kick off the shoes, and get to know someone, not just the "How Do I?"..

Every community needs their little get away spot, and for VJ, that's OFF TOPIC.

If it's going to be, it's up to me!
