Hello everyone my name is Mike and I'm from California. I just filed a K1 visa for my fiancé back in the Philippines last July 7, 2016. As of now I've only received a receipt that they got my payment but it also says that our application is in process. Would that be consider as "NOA1"?? and if it is, how long will it take to get NOA2?. What happens after NOA2? Thank you.

California can be super slow too, ours took almost 6 months from NOA1 to NOA2 with no RFE.

Yeah but that's not the norm at all. You'd be more like the people during the TSC backlog that were waiting 12+ months for NOA2 while everyone else was clocking in between 6 and 8. So the question was why did that person's NOA2 take so long and that's the answer-- they all were during the TSC backlog. Not "I got unlucky and was a weird one off". It gives a more accurate picture of what to expect.

I know you had a bad experience but you have to see that there is a functional difference between an individual case going off the rails and the entire applicant pool. It's like that one person who had NOA2 in April but still hasn't been sent to NVC. You still say that the norm to be sent to NVC is a month or less, even if one person is hanging out at about 5 You have to give advice accordingly.

You and I are in almost exactly the same boat. I also mailed to Texas and also then got forwarded to California (I live in Oregon).

I sent my I-129F on June 28th, so I'm just a few days ahead of you. I got my initial notification (NOA1) on July 5th. Now, like you, I'm just on hold for the NOA2.

I wasn't taking about the norm, I wanted to let OP know that just because "the norm" says one thing it can still take way longer than that, like it has done for some of us. There are still a bunch of filers from December that still haven't heard anything so we were far from the only ones. Still not saying that it's the norm, just saying that it definitely happens.

Like everyone always told me; "Expect it to take 10 months, be happy with 5", or whatever it was.

Its not your timeline, its under your profile > edit profile > profile settings, scroll down to the bottom > Immigration info > Change Place benefits at field and save changes. That will change it on your profile.

the process can go fast or slow

when we applied K 1 and were at California office it was from July to November for an interview

the California slowed becuase of water damage and other offices were swamped

right now all are a bit slow as the number of applicaitons has skyrocketed

I really don't know how to do the timeline as of now but I will figure it out later. right now I'm confuse because I sent my application to Texas lockbox, are they sending my application to California for NOA2 approval? or they don't send it until later? The process is simple and you don't have to do anything other than just mail your 129f to the Texas lock box as instructed in the details of the 129f instructions. Once the file arrives in TX they will scan your document into the system and that creates the NOA1. The file is then sent both by courier and digitally. They decide based on workload and geographically. Again, you do nothing but follow the directions in the 129f.

NOA 2 can take up to 5 months but it's been running about 60 days. Don't call and fuss if you don't have in 30 days. That timetable is old and no longer valid. Relax. The process takes time and you will be waiting on every step of the way. Nothing should surprise you.
