I-751 July 2016 Filers

I spoke with my attorney this last week, and he told me not to be concerned in regards to I-751 taking so long. As this is 1 of the longest drawn out immigration processes, and with me applying for citizenship they tend to combine the 2 together. He did say he has known cases to have taken 18-24 months before the I-751 is completed. I applied under 14months ago, and still have no feedback. When I went to my info pass appointment at the start of August, I was told it hadn't been allocated to an officer. I am not too concerned, it will happen when it happens. It is just the inconvenience of having to travel with a stamp in the passport, opposed to having the actual card present, seems to take longer when entering the country.

And of course, the fact that it cost $680 and that most people would expect, just a whiff, of customer service for that amount.

Well. Immigration officers or attorneys  - they all would tell you not to worry and that it's normal to wait 24 months. But it's not. I have few friends who filed I-751 in November 2015 - January 2016 and they all got their GC within 5 to 6 months. We filed few months later and have to wait 14 months. It's unfair. People who could absolutely legally get their residency in time if USCIS did their job well, might break up and get divorced while waiting 24 months loosing their status or getting it with complexities.

filing the i751 does not grant residency.

it removes the restrictions on a persons residency, there is no gain in rights before or after the i751 is done.  the shinny card you get to put in your wallet is the only new thing you get and the stamp in your passport works just as well.

I would rather they work on k1 and cr1 visas that actually let families reunite than give me a shinny new card sooner.

Hello July '16 filers, I also filed end of July and my NoA is Aug 1st.

My proof of pr extension expiration is oct 7th so today I went for proof of pr extension stamping. It went smooth and they only ask for passport for stamping and evidence of pr. The only interesting take away was that the officer informed me that my case was assigned to an immigration officer three weeks back. I am a CSC filer.

From experience, does anyone know how long they generally take to act on cases post assignment?

I was told by an immigration officer on the phone that i will hear from them by the end of October, but i think it is too good to be true. Been waiting for 13 months and 6 days, we will see what happens in the next few weeks. It usually won't take more than a year, but many have been waiting for over a year(CSC), so I am not very optimistic. My conservative guess is July or August pilers might be approved by next Jan or Feb

There are those few outliers in every filing group.

I remember when one person in the June 2016 filers group had their ROC adjudicated in August/September 2016 (yes 2 months!). It gave everyone in the group a false sense of hope and we all thought we will be done within 4-5 months only for it to be an average of 13 months!

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

How does that even happen? ... Unless they are trying to massage the figures.

Exactly, the few July approvals might be outliars too.

@Zombie69 At this point one of the positive thing is that almost 90% of June CSC VJ applicants have been approved. Hopefully, July-2016 CSC applicants would be processed quicker similar to July, August and September-2016 VSC applicants. Goodluck to everyone.
