Help needed wife abdoned marriage

In my original post, it was reported to the local police the next day. They said that there is not much they can do beings there was no sign of forced entry, abuse or other. The officer said that by looking at the note she left, she left on her own will so their hands are tied legally. And we did get along fine prior to her going missing. She was a different person after she returned from her trip, always saying that she must work, her parents need money. Since she has been gone the few messages I got from her was that she is in California doing nails, then she is in Vietnam and doesnt need the green card, family sick and needs money for the doctor (lie, I spoke to her dad the same day at his house) and other excuses. Yes the locks were changed since I have my children at the house and didn't know whom has the key. I haven't heard from her in over a month. I messaged her that I do not care who she is with and it would be in her best interest to give me her address so we can divorce which would allow her to try to remove conditions on her own. She seen it but did not reply.

You can do whatever you think is best, but honestly, I think it's clear that she's under the control of some very shady people and (1) you loved her enough to marry her at some point so I'm not sure why you're not more concerned to help her out of this situation and (2) I'd be in a complete panic to make sure that if/when caught, that I do not get lumped into the group with those "very shady people" as some sort of accomplice to trafficking (and before you think I sound dramatic--- if she was brought here to work unpaid or underpaid that's human trafficking, and you're the one who got her here. Even if she wasn't brought here for that purpose, that's what it sounds like is going on now even if she's doing it by "choice" (coercion?)-- you're less involved that way but certainly still a piece).

Local law enforcement often is out of their depths with these issues-- this is a federal issue. There's a number to report things like this:

It's entirely possible that she's not the one who "saw" the message, and entirely possible that whoever did could not care less about her legal status, and could perfer that she has no legal status so that she's easier to exploit. Again, I get that you're upset and feeling abandoned but clearly you loved this woman a lot at one point-- do you really want to abandon her to fate? Do you really want to leave yourself exposed like this?

Regardless, you have to stay into self protection mode which seems like what you are doing. It just sucks it ended this way.

Wow, I'm truly sorry that things have turned out as they have.

I'd get the locks changed just to be on the safe side. If she's entangled with some shady characters then you're going to want to have some form of protection, and that might help. I'd definitely chase up with the police about her being missing, at least you can get some closure on what's really going on and if you need to divorce and move on, or she's really in trouble.

Why are you assuming that? There have been no phone calls listed for her phone on your plan? I don't know what to think of this situation anymore. Regardless, you now have a wife that is completely out of contact with you. You have a lot of decisions to make and authorities, agencies and possibly lawyers to contact. Good Luck. Do the right thing.

I think his issue might be more that she has dropped off the face of the planet and not came home when she said she would.

Yes, but why? In OP's other post it sounded like she is paying back some kind of family debt. Could be trafficking/slavery. It is unclear. If I were in OP's position I would have gone to the police by now.

I am not sure he cares. Because his neighbor is her cousin and would know where she is.

I am 100% sure he cares too, but relying on the cousin might not be ideal. I don't think my cousins would care or even bother if I were in trouble. Just because someone is family doesn't always mean they take an interest in your lives (unless of course there's something in it for them).

Has the OP considered hiring an attorney and perhaps more importantly, a private detective to ascertain her true whereabouts? Might be a long shot, but may turn up something for the purposes of getting this thing sorted out properly.

For all purposes this is a marriage that can be considered abandoned on her part, so he can file for divorce without her signing anything and move on eventually.

But if there is any care about her safety and well-being, contacting the human trafficking division may be prudent.

I bet the cousin is in on it, but I would first have that conversation to see if they seem uncomfortable or concerned, the get the cops involved and have them question the neighbor. Or something. I would do something more than texting "hey you have to come back for ROC."

This was a set up from day 1. The woman came here got all her immigration affairs in order and left when the only left she can do on her own. They bank rolled the OP and when he would give no more she left. The whole time the OP is still paying her cell phone anyway shes fine shes either selling herself in a brothel or working in a factory for pennies paying her families debt which is all I belive the OP has right.

They borrowed monies from vietnamese mafia prob and since OP wouldnt pay the thousand a month she demanded she left of her own mind or they took her to work it off.

I think i even saw something like this on Law and Order SVU....

He already contacted the police hes all set. Shes grown and is fine. And if the police where concerned they can trace her cellphone which the op still pays.
